Nappy Headed Hoe Cakes

- I'm a proud descendant of slaves and the culture created by my ancestors. Part of that culture is a little delicacy that's part cookie, part cake that we call "hoe cakes" (originally they were cooked on hoes over a fire in the fields) or "tea cakes" by sedity folks (that's High Class Black Folks!). Lately, my mother who's in early stages of dementia has been putting German Chocolate frosting on everything, including her pound cake that I love so much. Not long ago, I asked her to make me some "tea cakes," since we all educated and could be sedity if we wanted to. She's going to make them for me the next holiday. But I had a nightmare that she put German Chocolate frosting on those sweet little mounds of baked deliciousness and transformed my favorite "cookie" into Nappy Headed Hoe Cakes!
