My path to holocaust denial: First, I have a skeptical, and some would say (an ex-girlfriend said) a contrarian nature. I'm a retired engineer. I was an anti-war demonstrator in college. At some point I read "They Dare to Speak Out" by Paul Findley. I also read Chomsky's "Fateful Triangle". I think even before the Lieberman VP campaign I had researched the various scurrilous quotes from the Talmud one sees on the net. The U had a disc copy, the quotes are accurate. I read "3000 Years of Jewish History" by Israel Shahak. Then the Lieberman VP campaign came along. This exercised me. I had a Jewish friend and we had some vicious debates. The Palestinian issue can very clearly be seen by maps of the region, there is an fmep.org. Gruesome. After 9/11 my Jewish friend said, "See, everything is changed now, right". I told him it changed everything, even what I had for breakfast, now I planned eating matza balls. He told me I wasn't missing anything. On the web I saw a discussion of the change in the plaque at Auschwitz from 4 mil to 1 mil. There was the inevitable 'rebuttal' "you're a nazi ... " I thought, well, this is a fact, one way or the other, I can research it easily on the net. I did. The plaque was changed. I thought, wow, maybe the holocaust deniers have a point. I researched it for a few months on the net. An interesting process. The mind does not like to 'not know', and it was difficult to know. I needed a touchstone, it was the window in the Auschwitz gas chamber. That's it, right there. Now, the hoax is obvious. What is baffling is the effectiveness of the hoax propaganda which causes most people to viscerally reject any discussion of the holocaust at all. As if they were personally involved. Amazing to me.
