This is excellent, as someone who was in the lighting, until the Government offered all of my customers tax incentives for changing over to the new bulbs...(I sold extended life bulbs to hotels and industry). Did you know that in 1935 we had GE tell our government that the average bulb's life should be set at 750 hours...my bulbs were 20,000 hours and when people used them they were happy and had more money to spend...Why do we need these pieces of shit? In the UK and Europe they are revolting..because of these shit bulbs.
By the way, it was George Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton that put this policy into effect...the current congress added a prison term to it if you are caught selling or hording the old bulbs after the deadline.
It's pathetic that I have to share this planet with such dimwits.
"Nanny state run amok"? Oh, yeah, right, we should allow people to pollute indiscriminately, without any limitations on polluters, big or small, whatsofuckingever. Because that would be BRIGHT.
A "prison term" for selling or possessing the old light bulbs? Is that a fucking joke? If not, T.S., you wingnut, where is your source of that information?
And, wingnut dipshits, it's a SIMPLE word and it's spelled "h-o-a-r-d," not "horde" or "hord." If you can't spell simple words, how can you make a rational argument?
Funny thing is, the smug, smirking incandescents are the butt of the joke here, making fun of the 'liberalism' of the newer bulbs instead of addressing the problem they were invented to solve... Someone really doesn't get who's the dim bulb here...
I hate these bulbs. I keep buying them because I keep believing this lasts-almost-forever marketing thing they have going on. I've had terrible luck with them but what are you supposed to do with a $15 light bulb that was supposed to last 5 years but lasted all of 5 months? Return it? To where? Throw it out? Uh...mercury much? If they ever manage to make one that doesn't make everything look weird (yes, I've purchased a "daylight" one), takes less than 10 minutes to "warm up" (because that works so well when you go into a dark pantry for a can of something) and is bright enough to read by, I might be ok with them. But right now they have a looonnnnggg way to go.
