Venn Diagram: Part 5 -- Jane Leaves a Note

As a way of leaving quickly, Jane handed Dwight an envelope.  As soon as she was out of sight, he quickly ripped it open.  It was typewritten, on 20 pound rag bond.

I like you.  Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this.

First, you owe me nothing. I don't do things that aren't pleasing to me, so I was pleased.

If you are still interested, I want to make it easy for you.  None of this "the rules" nonsense.  There is only one rule and that is to be true to yourself.  The easy part -- I know exactly what I want and will simply tell you.

You don't have to try to read my mind or anticipate what I might or might not want.

1.  Buy me flowers.  Call Three Sisters Florist on 46th Street.  801.342.5542.  Ask for Rene.  She knows what I like and where to deliver them.

2.  Wait a day.

3.  Call me two days from today at 11:30 am on my cell.  I will thank you for the flowers.  We have exactly 90 seconds.  Be prepared to give me a private email addrss.  The balance of the time -- it is yours.  You can say what you want.

Remember, no obligation.  I will tell you exactly what pleases me.  You are free to do whatever you want with that information.  I suggest that you either take it or don't bother.

The upside of this is that you don't have to think so much.  I don't do complicated anymore.  This is simple. Don't you love not having to do so much thinking?

Jane

Dwight is in shock.  An alternative universe, and nothing reminds him of anything.  But damn.  For him, the old one was about used up anyway.

He grabs his iPhone and keys in the number of the florist.  He puts a reminder in his calendar for 11:30.  Not that he will need it.

Total fantasy. A woman actually knows what she wants. She puts it in writing. And she really doesn't care if you blow it off. If only.
If only, in general. r
there are so many variations (a la Goldberg?) of fantasy from the perspectives of men and women that elicit an "if only." i fear, though, that a romance so "uncomplicated" would soon become boring. but i could be wrong.

love the audio.
Thanks for reading, fernsy.

FF: I am saving my strength for Jane and Dwight's first real date. I have a feeling that Dwight won't feel bored. Jane? Well, she has been sitting home watching MacNeil Lehrer News Hour, so I think this might seem exciting. Thanks for the comments.
Jane is awesome! That is what "cutting to the chase" is all about and so much more practical and honest! She could be the poster child for Dating 101. If only...
Too often the man blows it off because he cannot believe this is "all" she really wants. But, some of us will not quit trying, albeit not quite to the "where to buy the flowers" degree...R (and great music.)
Nick, all women know what they want, but few are ballsy enough to take it this far. And seriously, I prefer a little mystery in the mix. If only. Great story.
Rated.
great story.

love all the ways man/woman relations can pull the rug out from under all of us, even when we think we are planted firm, legs wide, butt down, arms outstretched,...whee, over we go anyway.

Cathy: We will see if this gets any real world traction.
Buffy: Yea, I agree that men may not believe it can ever be simple.
Unbreakable: I don't know if anyone (men or women) know what they really want -- I see way too much yearning for the fantastical.
Eck: Yea -- there is always a new way things can go wrong.
The music accompanying this is very, very good. Very nice match up.

I'm hooked on the story. But I would have skipped out after that message.
