I am annoyed by the right wing hell raising over Justice Sotomayor. I am also aggravated by the double standard that exists in our Nations appointment of Judges. President Bush appointed to this Nations' Highest Court two individuals who would probably hope to install a king and destroy all rights except that right to own a gun. The Democratic Party those "Socialist Liberals" did try to stop these appointments and failed and while I understand their feelings that Judicial filibusters are wrong, when there are people as conservative as those appointed it must be laid out on the table. What disappoints me is the fact that when given the opportunity to appoint a Liberal Lion, a person to help even out this court. But no Mr. Obama chose a centrist who merely tips a bit to the left and may even be conservative when it comes to criminal justice which greatly concerns me because the rights of the accused are so important to our system of law that we must protect those we hate most to protect ourselves. The fact that Obama feared appointing an actual liberal is both a sign of weakness and a sign of his pragmatism. He should have appointed a real liberal and forced the Repubs to embarrass themselves and filibuster. But even still why can a conservative appoint someone so far right that they are fascist and liberal can't appoint another liberal. The President must take notice the Nation is moving Left yet our politics are moving Right.
