My General Views.

Rate: 2 Flag

I will try to think of all the hot button issues I can/all the issues I feel are important and give you a taste of my thoughts on them. If you want a more in-depth position just ask and ill try my best to give it.

Political Affiliation- I would say I am a Democrat, but more to the left then most.

Abortion- I am by no means in favor of abortion. I think it is a horrible thing but it is not the governments place to decide what a woman chooses to do with her body.

Gay rights- As I have outlined in previous posts I am firmly in favor of Gay marriage and feel it is a civil right just like the right to Heterosexual marriage is. The 14th amendment states all are equal under the law and that’s how it should be for EVERYONE.

Affirmative Action- I think the situation that caused this has numerous remedy's and the chosen one is better then inaction but I feel that we can do more for the underprivileged and poor minority's by helping inner city schools, reforming education, encouraging kids to do well, more parental motivation, having better role models for these kids, Legalizing Marijuana and taxing taking away the motive for drug dealing. Fight crime and gangs.

Health Care- Single payer. The governments job is ensure the general welfare and our current system does no where near that. I am horrified by the fact that people make a profit off health it is just incomprehensible to me. The fact that people’s lives are merely a source of profit is disgusting. Why half our nation is so fearful of a single payer system which is loved and used by the vast majority of the developed world is absurd.

Gun Rights- You have a right to posses a Fire Arm as part of a well regulated militia. I believe people have a right a rifle, shotgun. But I do not feel handguns and assault weapons have any place in our modern Society.

Freedoms (The First Amendment) - Freedom of speech and of the press is vital to a stable and free society. When the press is not free the people are oppressed and lied to, when people cannot speak their minds tyranny is rampant. Under no circumstances shall these rights be abridged except of course when the use of them puts people’s lives in direct jeopardy.

Guantanamo- We must close this down immediately. The effect it has on our reputation abroad is damaging and not what the world should see. We have a responsibility to protect the rights of all and we cannot be two faced complaining about repressive regimes when we are no better.

Torture- Has no place in our interrogations. It is inhumane, does not work and brings about no good.

Death Penalty- Cruel and Unusual.

This is a small taste any questions, just ask.

I Don't... I cannot say I am a fan of vegetables.
Since I am a tiny, petite person, I prefer a handgun to a shotgun/rifle. What are your thoughts on that?
Handguns can have very powerful recoil as well. Anyone can with the proper training fire almost any gun well and safely no matter what their size. Or you could try a .22 LR it has low recoil (comparatively speaking)
I currently have a Glock--very light-weight, and in my opinion, doesn't get any better than that. I've always been afraid of blowing my shoulder clean off with a rifle.

@wsftc: are you mocking me? ;-)
it all depends on how its used. If used properly as i said anyone can fire a rifle.
Is it like some weird hippie symbol? Ha! I always thought a toque was one of those crazy, tall, white hats that chefs wear....

And I don't carry my gun around with me all the time--I have chicken in the oven now--sporting dangerous oven-mitts.
But I do live in Central Phoenix...scary...
@wsftc: Sounds good. And I just have the one semi-automatic weapon--not an arsenal.
But if nana, Andy H., Ryan Clark ( or really anyone else) does a decent post about zombies and armies, I may pretend I am amassing weapons... ;-)

Thanks Jake, I would say I'll look into lessons, but its really not necessary at this point. Thanks for letting us highjack tonight!
