HELPFUL SUGGESTION: if you like what you've read (and even if you didn't), come back in a day or two. It'll be better. In fact, if you hated it, you must come back and read it again because it will definitely be better. *************************** "I find that I am so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. bad news! no dogs in heaven!

Rate: 3 Flag

My Son the Good Christian informed me of this Fundamentalist FAQ: dogs do not have souls and as such, have no place in Heaven at the Eternal Feast.

If dogs had any idea, they would be crushed. No Feast Table to hang out under, scrambling for Divine Breadcrumbs and bits of Manna.

I look over at my two fabulous glamor girls and there they lay - like lox on a bagel - completely relaxed and a little greasy, ever shedding, piquantly stinky and happy just to be the good girls they are.

taken a few years back, they haven't changed their position much except Petunia is greyer and because of arthritis doesn't allow Poppy to sleep on her hip anymore

This was taken a few years back when Petunia (white Boxer) was younger.  Now that she's an arthritic senior, she no longer permits her beloved Poppy (insane brown hound) to lay on her. Tell me about a heaven without them! Go on...I dare you!

I've come to a point in my life where I don't know if I believe in God - I'm not sure one way or the other.  (Actually, I think I know for sure, but with the unknown, you NEVER REALLY KNOW, do you?) (Or do you?) (ha!)

I'd love, absolutely love to think there was a greater, gooder, all powerful being up there somewhere, keeping tabs on all of us (me, especially), watching and weighing and adjusting, making sure things don't get too out of hand.

Except when it comes to human beings, it seems to me things are out of hand all the time.  Right now, we've gone completely bat shit bonkers in a number of places.

America's not immune to the crazies...right here at home, maybe next door there's a probability some nepharious out of handedness is afoot.  The reality one learns as an appropriately paranoid grown up is there is always someone somewhere doing something unspeakable to someone or something, a someone you might even say "hello" to every day.  And I'm not even talking about Republicans.  (hahahaha) (sorry)

Yet someone, in their wisdom has decided heaven is for humans only.  If I have any say in it, I think I'll take a pass.  Hopefully that doesn't mean I have to go to hell, where I'm sure there are NO dogs.  Not even one.

And truth be told, I'm not good enough for heaven or bad enough for hell anyway.

I don't think.

Note: this is my first ever blog.

I'm old so this is really an event for me!

 well, not that old.

hello!

There's a wonderful story on this theme ... I'll post it on my blog, it's too long for comments. I just googled it but I've seen it many times. The first result this time says it's based on a Twilight Zone episode. I don't know. It says it just right.
As a non-fundamentalist, I'm absolutely convinced that God can let in whomever and whatever God wants, including dogs and Muslims.
I'm with you on this one, if my animals aren't in heaven with me (assuming I'd get in) it wouldn't be much of a paradise. Welcome aboard!!!
Thanks for your post! I couldn't imagine Heaven, if it's only full of Fundamentalists. What a boring place it must be!
Thank you all for your attendance at my coming out party.

nerd cred I will check out your blog. I'm new to loving dogs, never having had one until ten or so years ago so this mad love for them is new and fresh.
High Lonesome, bluesurly and Kenny1948, agreed completely. If there is a God he/she/it will let any and all nice things into whatever heaven he/she/it has in store for us.

my thinking is: have I been nice enough to be in heaven with them? dogs...all animals really, are pure innocents, stephen king notwithstanding. at least I think they are.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
