he is a young prince
she much older
but so winsome in her way
enticing as a cool wind
that tickles softly the warmth of your neck
here is winston woo
tiny prince of bulldogs
fated to chase his elusive flower
petunia queen of all
he tries to please to nuzzle
to kiss and
in his passion he will leap upon her with such gusto!
she smiles at him stands for him
then in a moment
she is gone
and I remember
when her stranger brought her home
and she leaped from my truck
trusting her strength
she cries once not fathoming
pain she is changed forever
the warrior would face them down
she knew they watched
and she loved nothing more than to roll them around
the small ones especially
with her paws her teeth the animal
would relish their fear
this primal queen our beauty
in him she forgets her age
and she smiles
no winston, no but always
with that smile that backwards glance
yes
as she runs away
and I remember

do you have a winston woo too?
this little boy is still a pup but he doesn't know it, never did. he too is a warrior, tiny as he is (he was the runt in his litter). he's here visiting w us while his people (my son and fam) are on vacation. we've known him since he was a nubbin.
thank you for stopping by and visiting my little world. :)
this poem is about Petunia a white boxer mix and her paramour Winston Woo, a very small bulldog. he is mad for her and she flirts terribly with him, but they've both been fixed. she drives him insane.
I think you caught my sadness...she is growing old before my eyes, my girl. I think she's getting senile if dogs do. her downhill towards her end is so much faster than ours. she's passing me like a rocket.
I saw our life together from the first day I brought her home after she came from the vet and her little yelp when she got out of the truck. she didn't expect the pain, you see.
and yes, she is, was a great warrior. there was no dog to intimidate her, few dogs stood her down. no bully, but all bitch all powerful. my girl.
good to see you Harp! :)
