I'm feeling ambivalent about this holiday, to be honest. but that's nothing new. I'm always ambivalent about any holiday.
however, I feel the urge sometimes to say thank you for being alive. I don't know to who, maybe to the sweet destiny that gave me life. Lets face it, out of all those millions and zillions and kabillions of genes and sperms and eggs and perhaps souls floating around the universe, good fortune caught on a leaf at a time, and I am here to tell the tale.
I guess this is what getting old is about, the gradual realization that this living is indeed a gift, nomatter how harsh, nomatter how strange.
