Norman Kelley is an independent journalist, author, and former segment radio producer at WBAI 99.5 FM Pacifica Radio. He has written for Society, L A Weekly, The Brooklyn Rail, The Village Voice, The Nation, New York Press, Newsday, Word.com, The Black Star News, New Politics, Black Renaissance/Noir, and The Bedford Stuyvesant Current. He is also the author of the "noir soul"/ mystery series that features "Nina Halligan" in Black Heat (Amistad), The Big Mango (Akashic Books), and A Phat Death (2003). Norman Kelley was also a contributing writer to Brooklyn Noir (Akashic Books, 2004) and DC Noir (Akashic Books, 2006) and Gig: Americans Talk About Their Jobs at the Turn of the Millennium (Random House 2000). He edited and contributed to R&B (Rhythm and Business): The Political Economy of Black Music (Akashic Books, 2005; 2002).

I really don't see the man crossing any lines in his explanation to the child of his life style. In the future we are going to have to except the fact that some among us are going to have abnormal sexual preferences and most of them will make better citizens than the greedy and avaricious monsters that we have allowed to seize control of our destiny. As long as abnormal sexual behavior is not practiced on a child it does not affect me or you unlike the wall street parasites who have inflicted themselves into are very dreams. Aberrant sexual behavior was openly practiced before Christianity and had no detrimental effect on either Greek or roman civilizations in fact it made the Spartans stronger. As far as the idea that a child by learning to accept this will go on to practice it I do not need scientific" facts" ; If a man finds the hairy asshole of another man more appealing than the voluptuous curves of a woman's body he was almost invariably born that way.

While not quite as graphic as Jack Heart, I concur with his sentiments. Fear of conversion or indoctrination is a mild form of homophobia. As for concerns about pedophilia, most sex based crimes are committed by heterosexuals.

@Jack Heart--and if a man prefers a woman's hairy asshole to a man's hairy asshole, he's entitled to his perversion. He was obviously born that way and in no way does his aberrant sexual behavior harm children--unlike the parasites on Wall Street. God only knows whose assholes they're licking.

Finally I was able to see the video. I can only assume that Norman Kelly is writing tongue in cheek, because I can't believe that he is a raging homophobe. The conversation sounds like a normal conversation with a child who has just learned something new.

Since many of us have gay friends, it is entirely possible that any child could encounter the same revelation. I hope they would all be as open hearted and light about it.

The kids tone sounds exactly like my grandson sounded when he discovered that we were both left-handed. He was enthusiastic and then it was time to move on to playing a new game. No big deal.
