I Learn Something New Everyday

Rate: 21 Flag

I'd never heard of this group until today.

This is an incredible piece that made my heart soar.

Perpetuum Jazzile is an a cappella jazz choir from Slovenia.  Their take on a very familiar song is incredibly special.  The rain storm they create at the start is pure inspiration.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

"Africa"   - Toto, 1982

Wow. These people have sooooo much talent. I am jealous -- and appreciative! Thanks for sharing Notes!
I'm listening and liking. Beautiful a capella sounds, and the rain is toally wet. Your pm made me chuckle - patience is hard isn't it?
Happy Fourth (can you tell I'm already on my weekend?)

rated and a hug
That is seriously hard to do. As Freaky would say, I'm jealousing right now!
Uh oh. I think YouTube might have pulled this clip - or my computer is acting up.
Yikers, Tequila! I still see it on my blog! Errrr...how do they know to pull a video?
Very interesting! Being a musician myself, I tend to have a high appreciation for such things! Have you every heard the group Ladysmith Black Mambazo? A very good multipart harmony african group. Also, the soundtrack to the movie The Power of One, has some great native african peices. Good post!
Aaron - my ex-husband worked with Hugh Masekela on "Serafina" and recorded the cast album. He also collaborated with him on a little known musical that had a short life-span called "Township Fever" (it opened almost concurrently with the Gulf War. People where far more interested in watching Smart Bombs on CNN than going to the theater.) During my "association" with my ex, I learned a great deal about african music and got most of the CDs in the divorce. Actually, I swiped 'em but he snuck off with the wedding china so it was only fair. I think I got the better end of the deal. I'll check out "The Power of One". Thanks!
pardon my French by that was fucking AMAZING!
The thunder - WOW
The Drummer - HA! he was so accurate
The bassist (in the blue shirt)
And WAS THAT SPIDERMAN ON LEAD VOCALS!!! He sure does look like him!
Love it. Thank you so much for exposing little Midwestern me to such worldwide talent. Rated for being splendid.
Very cool. And nice to see you back in these parts!
WOW!! Simply amazing and incredible. Thank you for sharing this.
That is so COOL! When I did student teaching, the 'hook' of one lesson was creating a rainstorm (minus the thunder, because we had classes beneath us).
That was great. I'm glad you let me know. anytime you want me to "look" at something, just let me know, believe me, I know the feeling. Great Post.
Been raining all day here so this was perfect and I've always liked this song. Sick of MJ already. I cranked this up and let it rip!!! Awesome!
Very nice indeed. Thanks!
WoW! This sent shivers down my spine and brought tears to my eyes. Thrilling music and gifted performers with such a unique method of recreating a rainstorm. Brilliant.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
Blog love to you!
Curses! The work computer disables the videos. Gaaarrr.
I look forward to checking this out tonight. I love me some Toto.
Thanks for finding it! It's really really cool!
That was wonderful. So perfectly done. I'm going to listen to it again.
Thanks you guys! I appreciate your coming to listen, especially following my somewhat "foot stomping" PM. It really is incredible, huh? I've played about 20 times and it still gives me chills!
