- I often post letters under the screen name "NotMalibuBarbie." But since the blog is more narrative I thought I'd use my real name. I live in Sacramento, and am now in a subsidized apartment, since I have been unable to find a job. I took care of my mother, who has Alzheimer's, for four years. Being 53 and unemployed for that long makes it difficult to get hired. I've been writing my whole life, and sometimes even got paid for it. The good news about having no job is that I have the time to re-up on the writing, and hopefully can sell some of my stuff to the local papers.
