A Summer Walk (so great, I moved a block away!)

Tall spires of pines lead into the park to the ball fields. When not in use, they are peaceful quiet meadows of perfect grass. Soft and aromatic it would be tempting to lie down now but the journey has just begun.

A Spring Walk in Seward Park
The rain had stopped for a short break. The sun, low in the sky peeking between two storms, lit up the tree's new spring green buds. My walk began with the first of many park sightings, the Vietnamese family picnic in the shelter. The smells of food and laughter wafting out… Read full post »
Congratulations Squirrel!
We were on a road trip from Seattle to Lake Chelan this weekend. In the quaint small town of Cle Elum, just on the other side of the Cascade mountains, we stopped at our usual halfway point for a cheeseburger.

Because it was hot, dusty and windy… Read full post »
Encaustic Crack Habit
For over a year I have been working two jobs. The day job pays my bills and supplies health insurance. The second is my passion. I am an artist. I cannot last more than a few days without working my second job, even though it doesn't pay all that well I… Read full post »

Are My Lips Too Big?
I had a lovely weekday off a few weeks ago. While catching up on household chores, I decided to watch local daytime TV. Although I’ve never seen a daytime soap opera in my life, I used to be an Oprah fan. I tuned into the middle of a show called “The… Read full post »
I saw god today
I have a different god(s) than most people
When I drive home from the studio late at night I push the random button on the radio until I hear something I want to listen to. I heard a few lines from “I saw god today” by George Strait and thought… Read full post »
25 things (not so important, but about me)
- I am up way too late, most every night.
- I should probably be taking some kind of medication but I forget to take an aspirin when I have cramps so I wouldn’t be good at a daily regimen.
- I rode a freight train to another state when I was/ … Read full post »
You never know what will come up
For the past five years we have traveled to Florida when my sig. other has a conference. After the first year spending 5 days in Epcot with friends of his from high school days (another post) we decided to make the most of the trip by traveling around the state and… Read full post »
Thanksgiving 1995 my then boyfriend and I were invited to his sister’s house. We arrived early to visit with the family and she announced excitedly that her husband, Stew…no, I’m not making that up, was cooking his first turkey. He was so proud to tell us of the process/… Read full post »
We finally made it to New Orleans. It's been a long crazy trip. I haven't travelled to the south very much except for a trip to Savannah. We spent the night with an old boss who insisted if I was ever in Alabama, I had to stop by.

Things to do on a cold Florida day
It's cold here. They had a frost warning last night. It's a typical late Summer morning in Seattle but for here, it's cold. I didn't bring a warm coat because hey, I'm in Florida. At 9 this morning everyone was ordering lattes and playing checkers in the lobby. No one out… Read full post »
Fear and Hope in Florida
Welcome to Florida!
Day one of our trip starting in Florida driving around to New Orleans later this week.
We are here for a conference, but I am just a ride along. We arrived in Tampa last night after traveling most of the day from Seattle. From the airport to Clearwater… Read full post »
A Trip to an Alternate Reality
A trip to Ashland is like spending the week at the best resort in the world. Our friends, Rick and Katherine are lovely, relaxed, friendly and political equals with us. Their home is quiet, calm and full of good music, books, great food and wine. They love to cook for their… Read full post »
Meat or Pet Chicken
We were raised in the city. Except for a few camping trips, and dogs, we didn’t have much to do with the centuries of farming our ancestors experienced. My mother could sing like Billy Holiday but could not grow anything in a garden. I actually killed a rhubarb/… Read full post »
