Rubbing my cheek where the book had hit me, I stared at the scene in front of me. A chill passed through my body.
"What the hell?" shrieked Muffy, frantically tucking her boobs back in her shirt. "What are you doing back here?"
"It's the library," I said. "You know, it's a public place."
My brother Derik casually zipped his pants and stood up. He looked at Muffy. "Wow, Muffster. I guess I won't be reciprocating." He laughed.
For a minute, only a minute, I felt sorry for her.
She glared at him and then at us both, then of course, she resettled her anger on me.
"You bitch," she said. "You better not tell anyone. Or, I'll tell them all about your boob operation."
I rolled my eyes. "You are so dumb," I replied. "And don't you have a boyfriend? Where is little Curtie Wurtie?"
She recoiled but then, "And I'll tell them you kissed your stepbrother!" She laughed at my expression. "Yes," she spat. "He told me. We laughed about it." I looked at Derik. My face began to heat. But before I could tell her that it was a lie, although it sort of wasn't, not that it mattered at all, it was just a stupid kiss, before I knew who he was, okay, just, it was nothing, she swept away in a huff and a puff, like the little pink wolfette that she was.
Derik smirked at me.
"You are a pig," I said.
And then, I'm sorry to say it. I turned and ran, with his laughter in my ears, choking back my tears. Damn him. DAMN HIM.
I went back out the door into the hallway and raced into the first available empty classroom. The chemistry lab. I shut the door and went straight for the closet, not thinking, not considering. I just wanted to get away and hide. Forever.
I really hate high school.

The black square began to make a noise like a scream as it began to move again, rolling closer and closer to its final destination.
