112th Congress: Welcome. What have you done for me lately?

Rate: 16 Flag

Today the 112th Congress takes office. Congratulations. So where are the jobs you promised? Why isn't the deficit reduced? Why hasn't health care reform been repealed? How come the President hasn't been impeached?

Tick, tick, tick.

It is easier to criticize than it is to govern. To those who elected the Republicans, expect to be disappointed. A lot. You were sold a bill of goods by charlatans. Ist's bad enough many of you voted against your own interest and we're gulled by people who have no interest, desire, or empathy to help you.

Attention Democrats, your lack of focus, and unwillingness to take the initiative leaves you with a weak hand. Unless you desired to lead in this session, you will be replaced. That includes you, Mr. President.

We're in the worst economy since the great depression and we get to hear the Constitution read everyday in the House of Representatives. How fatuous. So let's sit back and relax and enjoy life in like it was in the 90s. The 1890's.

Let's hope that the 2012 elections will be a referendum on the Republicans and Tea Partiers. Let that debate start now, before it is too late.

I was going to stop reading after the impeachment of the president hahaha.
Granted he needs to stop listening to his aides and get a damn backbone BUT I don't know about you but was handed a quagmire .
Would you want it?

The Republicans have already started. They held a congratulations party last night, sponsored by K Street lobbyists. It only cost $25,000 a ticket, $50,000 for the deluxe package with full access to the "movers and shakers". And the response from the conservative element and the teabaggers, "well those Democrats...."

It's going to be a fun two years. But at least we know what we are getting with the party of no progress.
Republican or Democrat the results are always the same...
I hate to even think about the next two years. Teabaggers never got the message that they were being used by faux-grassroots organizations created by conservative think tanks and backed by under the radar Wall Street tycoons. I doubt very much that the will wake up in the next two years. That would require the admission that they were wrong. I don't see that capacity in that particular group.

On the other side of stupid, the Democrats spent most of the election cycle running away from their accomplishments. Accomplishment that should be viewed as considerable considering what they were up against. The whole thing baffles me at times.
Blittie -- thanks.

Linda -- I have low expectations. I expect them to be met...just barely.

Ocular -- GOP, no progress is our most important product.

MRSRAPTOR -- You are correct...and it's sad.

Michael -- the Dems need consultants who will get them elected and allow them to govern.
OEsheepdog, you now have the party of "no" in the House which "thinks" they have a huge mandate to dismantle health care initiatives and the like. As in so many aspects of life, actions speak louder than words. They will have their symbolic vote in the House to repeal the current health care legislation and it will go nowhere. Obama has veto power and the Senate will not take up health care repeal from what I've read.
Terrifically concise and intelligent post! I so admire people that can write this way - making all their points tightly and articulately.

The House Republicans still don't have to govern. They can pass the most regressive bills they want fully knowing that the Democratic-"led" Senate won't take them up. The Republican base will eat up the red meat. House leadership will blame the Democrats for not doing the will of the people. Campaign 2012 is in full swing.
I just posted about this!
+1.
Short, sweet and spot on....
What a ridiculous bunch of corrupt, worthless pieces of shit. One can expect nothing but the absolute worst from this bunch of losers being sworn in right now. Throttle it in its cradle.

I think our forefathers would shit their pants. Good post. RRR
Hope you're ready to repost this at frequent intervals OE.
You wrote so beautifully what many of us Dirty Liberals have been thinking since the election and the "shellacking" the president took in November.

It hasn't gone unnoticed that more got done in the lame duck session than many expected. I have always had faith in Obama.

He may not be as emotive or outwardly passionate as Bill Clinton or doesn't smack his fist the way W did (ugh), but he is a highly intelligent man who I believe has done a great job in the two years since the nation almost crumbled into a million pieces.
