The new iPhone is about to make its debut today. Whoop-de-d00 (insert sarcasm here).
Want to impress me? Make it in the USA.
I know a lot of people who are Apple users. While I like to joke that they are members of a cult, I respect and understand their
zealotry loyalty to a product. Many Apple users I know are politically left of center. They are open minded, compassionate, and caring souls. One would think they would want to buy an Apple product made in the USA.
They can't. Apple uses contract manufacturing. They don't have a manufacturing presence in the U.S. Apple always charges a premium for their product. Isn't there something wrong with this picture given today's sluggish economy? Should Apple customers demand that Apple make products in the U.S.? Or are they sheep?
I try as best as I can to buy U.S. made products. I always look at the label. If I can't find made in America, I seek products made in Canada or Mexico. I try to buy Joseph Abboud suits made in the U.S. They still make them here.
I try and walk the walk. I will pay a premium to buy U.S. made products. Will you?
