So how accurate were my bold predictions for 2011?

Rate: 20 Flag

Unlike most pundits who never admit when they're wrong (96% accurate 3% of the time) I am back to take my lumps and see how well I did what I screwed up last December.

So here goes:

The next Congress will prove to be contentious and ineffective.

You didn't need to be a rocket scientist or brain surgeon to figure that one out. I am neither.

There will be a Government Shutdown. Could mean long term gains for the Democrats (but the Dems could screw up an erotic dream).

Close but no cigar. I didn't realize the debt ceiling would be where brinksmanship would be played by Congress

DADT will not be repealed by Congress, DADT will be upheld by the US Supreme Court.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. And thankfully so.

The newly elected GOP wing nuts will not be controlled by the GOP establishment. This will lead to both hilarious and disasterous consequences.

I think I nailed this one. Remember the NH freshman state rep who wanted mentally disabled to be "shipped off to Siberia"? Or Paul Ryan's dismantling of Medicare? John Boehner, how's that grand bargain with the president working out. And the stuper committee?

Sarah Palin launches an exploratory Presidential campaign committee.

Launched and sinks on its maiden voyage.

SCOTUS will overturn the lower courts favorable rulings on Gay Marriage.

I give myself an incomplete grade on this one. The court hasn't heard this case yet

Attempts to short-circuit health care reform will fail.

Yes...so far.

Pressure to privatize the TSA will grow. And fail.

Yes on this.

Unemployment will exceed 11%. Congress will do nothing. The Private Sector will do nothing. The rich will get richer and the middle class will get screwed.

Unemployment never got that high nationwide, but the rest is correct. B minus.

Michael Vick will lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl. The Patriots or the Jets will face the Eagles. Patriots beat Eagles. Eagles beat Jets.

Dumb and dumber.

A Third Party candidate will emerge for President. This candidate will be a woman.

I doubt this will happen...but Ron Paul or Major General Mayor Mike Bloomberg might still emerge.

Finally, Open Salon will survive and thrive in 2011.

OS is still here. It all depends on the meaning of thrive means.

So how did I do?

not bad at all for a sheepdog!
my bold prediction for 2012; in the first quarter the Dow will break a losses in one day record; the crash will ignite civil unrest across the US. 60 Minutes will do a story on the increase in suicides.
No worse than most other seers and pundits. And often better.
You're a regular Nostradumass.
Third party woman candidate? Giuliani still has his drag costume hanging in the closet.
Ok, the Salon thing was right.

You are self flogging on the rest, so i will leave you alone.
A pretty good batting average OE. Better than most of us, or all of me for sure, would have done. Looking forward to the 2012 picks.
Nothing you need to feel "sheepish" about.

Allright with me! I'm too cowardly and out of it to make such pithy and overall well done predictions.
I can't comment on the Amr. political thing because I have been ignoring it at all cost BUT you were right about Open Salon. :)
Hey your good..you deserve a Bow and a WOW!
Well done sir! And don't give yourself a point off for the 11% unemployment. "Category Six" from the DOL---which is closer to the real number of actual people not working, a much better measure is over 11%. And Gallup puts the percentage of underemployed at 18.6% and rising (that's from today) So you got that prediction covered.
Overall, not bad. I'm with Snippy and Roger on the unemployment numbers. There are many MANY of us who are uncounted for various reasons.
Purty good, Sheepie.
Nice job. Can't wait to see your predictions for 2012, Sheepie!
You get more credit than several GOP candidates, just for knowing about these things. Cain didn't know China already has nukes, Bachmann didn't know we already do not have an embassy in Iran, Gingrich doesn't know Dickens wrote fiction, and not manuals, and Romney doesn't know his previous self. Compared to those, you get full credit for having heard of the NFL.
