BAD NEWS SUNDAY: Worst new idea of 2012

Rate: 13 Flag

I held off in commenting on the prospects for 2012 under the philosophy that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.  If you've been following me, you already know what I think about the eurocrisis, the chinese housing bubble, the dismal prospects for the US and world economy in 2012 and other things.  As I told my friends on Facebook today, 2012 reminds me of the time a vegetarian waitress chastisted me for my order in an Indian restuarant.  "Have fun with your meat," she said.  And we are all meat.

And yet with less than twenty minutes to go before the old year ends, I peruse the New York Times, and I find this article by John Vincour entitled Clock Ticking for West to Act on Iranian Nuclear Program.  Surprise, surprise! The Israelis have authoritatively announced that within nine months "before Iran's attempt to acquire nuclear weapons moves into a 'zone of immunity' where it could be no longer stopped."  This means that the Israelis are now thinking about how much time they could have to stage military and naval airstrikes.

The upside for the Israelis is that with no more on-duty US military personnel in Iraq, Iraq does not have any access to an air force of its own to possibly interfere with an Israeli direct flyover.  And the article states that a German Marshall Fund poll shows that while 76% of Americans are concerned about Iranian nukes, only 8% of Americans would not consider the existence of an Iranian bombs a major concern, with a full 54% understanding the US having to resort to a military option if all other recourses were exhausted.

Never mind that a tinpot dictatorship like North Korea has tested more than one A-bomb, and we haven't bombed Pyongyang yet.  But between the Israelis and the Republicans calling Obama a pansy and "throwing Israel under the bus," it appears to be only a matter of time before either/and/ America or Israel launches the air sorties in 2012.

I will not go into extensive analysis again in telling you about what a horrible, bad idea this approach would be -- or how much chaos and catastrophe it would bring both on Israel or the United States.  I suggest that you look up some of my older blogs to see how stinky and downright stupid this whole situation would be.

I will only say for now that if such a thing happens, Barack Obama will appear more and more to be like Jimmy Carter in every way.  And of course, there's nothing more bracing to a worldwide economy in depression than $200 a barrel oil.

Happy New Year, suckers.

Only the first of many "great" ideas that await us in 2012. The shit won't hit the fan until there is a draft to re-supply the military with cannon fodder for these foreign wars.

Note to self: Buy shares in munitions factories.....

.
Yeah, I've been watching this event circling above us like a vulture. Everyone wants to try their hand at ripping apart the middle east after we set the model for it. Show me a warmonger and I'll show you a real pansy. But you're right, I doubt O-man has the guts for peace.
"Have fun with your meat" is going to be my new catchphrase. It covers a lot of scenarios. Keep parsing Lefty, keep analyzing...I trust your reading of the thrown bones.
If the Persians don't convince the Israelis they are not in fact dangerous to their survival, what do they expect? Its a very serious situation of course, although why the Iranians want to go to the limit with Israel, I don't get, and I'm not that huge a fan of Israel, or any state really, as they are what they are, which is the point: if you look like you want to kill someone, can one not predict potentially rather serious responses?
The Israeli predisposition for panic and paranoia which is a supremely useful tool for the Netanyahu regime is more than a worry about Iran's potential to build one or two nuclear weapons. The price of oil is unpleasant but I have read Israeli responses to the concept that the Iranians might possibly shoot a nuclear weapon at Tel Aviv to the effect that the entire Israeli nuclear arsenal or at least a major portion of the 200 weapons it is reported to possess would be the response. That, in effect, would likely not only destroy much of Iran but the effect on the world in general might make life on Earth damn near impossible. In effect, Israel is holding the entire Earth as hostage to its existence. I can think of nothing more dangerously insane.
Perpetual war is the driving force. Are we at war with Eastasia or Eurasia? There is one reason that no one has bombed Pyongyang, everyone wants oil but no one wants North Korea. I may be a fatalist but, it seems like the stage is set and all the pieces are in place for some kind of global war. A bloody and terrible thing that will make the people who hold the worlds wealth much richer while decimating freedom, justice, and the families of the poor. There won't be any draft to spark resistance until it is to late. No need for a draft in a world where the choice is already join up or starve.
The idea that somehow the Iranians are more irrational than the despicable North Koreans is laughable. No -- North Korea, Pakistan, and Iran are not in the business of wanting to commit suicide. However, I certainly wonder about the Israelis. They appear to be doing as good a job of destroying their society as we are. I'm too apathetic to be apocalyptic, but I am damn mad.

Zionist bushwa like this is simply crazymaking. The only thing I can do when crap like this takes place is yell at Mr. Stocky Marky and say, "DIVE! DIVE!"
Well, that's swell way to wake up on new year's morning! But if it's any comfort, my alarmingly well-informed and over-educated son tells me that my sense that this is the 'worst of all possible times' is sheer illusion -- 'temprocentrism'. Things have always been just about this bad, politicians just about this corrupt, stupid wars just about this imminent, financial interests just about this powerful. He even had the gall, at Christmas, to refer me to "The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism" -- Emmanuel Goldstein's underground book, the brilliant and still prescient meta text of Orwell's "1984". I read those essays to him when he was in 7th grade! The little rat. I guess he remembered.
I will never understand the hold that Israel has on the collective consciousness of the world.
I'm with Sky and have been saying it for years - nobody gives a rat's ass about war if they don't have to fight it. There would have been a million in D.C. if Bush had used conscripts to invade Iraq. The "volunteer" army is used as mercenaries - aren't the Hessians still available?

The "cradle of civilization" has been the setting for war, genocide (used to just be a tribe or town), mayhem and irrationality (birthplace of several unpleasant monotheisms) since people became 'fully human'. Only fitting, I suppose, if it also becomes the graveyard of civilization. Happy New Year!
Oddly, pansies are among the hardiest of flowers.
Funny how that "zone of immunity" lines up so well with the presidential campaign. And the Armageddon crowd wouldn't even blink at the prospect.
I figured we would have hit Iran a year ago. As usual, the zionist(and by zionist, I'm talking about the synagogue of satan) puppet America will give Netanyahu a good rimjob and help in destroying Iran. Interestingly, many Iranian citizens are fairly westernized and do not wish any great ill will toward America--their government is another matter.

The attack will happen and our government has been preparing for decades on how to ultimately deal with us--it may not go quite as planned, however.

Oh, and of course, once we hit Iran, Russia will nuke us. Please do not think my assertion is preposterous, the Russians will nuke us and China will be laughing their ass off.
The Russians currently have at least one of their Boomers off the Atlantic coast and one off the Pacific coast. They will be able to clear at least a few tubes before we take them out, that is if our affirmative action, LGBT military still has that ability.
President Santorum is all for it. Bring End of Days a few days closer. Get with it, man! Jesus is coming to save the world. He'll drop boxcar loads of manna. Mostly around the Great Salt Lake. Solve all our population related (and 99.44% are) problems.
