I am a high school English educator; however on most days I feel like an underpaid babysitter. I do like teaching (when I am able to do so) and would love to get additional degrees; nevertheless, I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on degrees and still be unhappy with a flawed system.
Karen posted her very often and well until a few months ago until her cancer relapsed. She is in serious cancer treatment now . . . and not for the first time.
Karen Novak's blog is at http://open.salon.com/user_blog.php?uid=289. There is more about her on Lorraine Berry's blog at http://open.salon.com/user_blog.php?uid=5052 which includes a lovely photograph of her.
She is a wonderful writer who posted here. Her words were written so well. Check out all the links and read her writing. She can put words together so well
Dear Olga, Thanks for asking, and a belated welcome to OpenSalon from me. Karen was one of the first posters here at OS, and she has never been less than honest. I've known her for years, read all her novels, and have spent the past 14 months hoping that the cancer would go away. Right now, it's back. And today is her birthday. So, I thought that if we all wished her happy birthday today, maybe the cancer would take a holiday and karen could come back to us. Magical thinking on my part, but magic has happened as a result. Thanks.
