This is a family post, I do not know if you ever had one before in OS but, now you do. The garden is the sole creation of my mother, and mother nature, but both me and my sister, eat everyday fresh tomatoes, onions, carrots, cucumbers, herbs, and in a little while, our first watermelon!! Yes, it is true, my mother has made her own personal garden in the terrace of the block building she is living in. She first bought the seeds, then the flower pots, and with a lot of love, caring and water, the result is what you see. To water them everyday, means that she has to carry 4 buckets of water to the common terrace, all by her self. I forgot to tell you that she lives in the first floor, while the terrace is in the 5th!!!

Our watermelon growing in the terrace.. Believe me, it is true!!!
So, this is dedicated to my beloved mother, with a big and huggy thank you, cause not only in the 1st of July, she had her birtday, but mostly, because she loves us, and provides for us, without judging. This post is by me and my sister, Afrodite, cause we both want to tell to our mother, our thank you for her being our mother, and for her garden in the terrace.

My mothers' creations!!!!
Let me tell you, that she is the only one in the building that has made a creation so fruitful, and nurishing, and she was also the only one by all our family and relatives, who although being in her early 70's, she found a field full of free olive trees, went and gathered as much olives she could. By her self again!!!

Our terrace garden... !!!
Then, and after having collected almost a 160 kilos of olives, she went to a nearby oil presser factory, and got out of her effort, almost 34 kilos of oil, which we still have. As, you all can understand the choriatiki salad, that we eat in our home, is a totall fresheness, cause all the ingredients are ours.

Delicious, natural tomatoes, excellent in gemista and greek salads!!!!

Our basil, rich and strong!!!

OUR CARROTS!!!!!!

Zucchini..here in Greece, they are called κολοκiθια!!

Μy sisters' creative tomatoes!!!

Mystery Basil!!!

A noir leaf...made by my sisters melancholic eyes!!!

And the watermelon in its blacks...
Happy many birthdays, mother, be always healthy, loved, joyful, creative, and working with beauty as you always have done. In another post I will tell you, all about her fishing achievements, cause for the past year, she has learned to fish, and has already cooked over 100 delicious fishes, all caught by her!! I am telling you, she is amazing. And she is our mother!! My mother, lives to give !!
Kisses and hugs, mommy, we love you!!!!

Tell your mama there's a man in Sydney who loves her garden & wishes her happiness on her birthday ~ thank you !
I'd say your mom has grown 2 remarkable daughters as well.
Happy Birthday to your Mom!
Happy Birthday to you, Olga and Afrodite's Mom!
Here at my house I have a garden growing too -- the squash/zucchini keep blossoming and I pick them all, stuff the blossoms with herbed feta or bleue cheese, baste with a little olive oil or butter and bake them in the oven -- they are so delicious this way I don't think any squash will actually get grown this year, just the blossoms : )
Jmac, my mother does, yes!!
Afrodite, so glad to meet you here !!! (only joking!!!)
Lsch, so many thank you, yes, she is trying a lot, and when she comes with the tomatoes in her hands she has just a great smile in her face, as if she holds jewellery!! Great recipe, in your latest work, thank you for sharing it!!
Kim, you are so great. My mother had a brother in Australia, as an immigrant there, and I know she will be very touched by your wishes. Trully thank you, this means a lot to me!!
Rob, oh, not even close.. she is the most working, compared to me and my sister. Thank you!!
Asia, we could have given her much more happiness...thank you!!! Yours and Trigs is to be admired, ours is in the terrace, but still, we have great tomatoes!!
What a wonderful post, your mom is remarkable and the garden is fabulous. Science has now shown that plants grown by a happy gardener grow faster and better, so I bet those tomatoes are delicious.
"My mother, lives to give !!" Like your mother, you two ladies also live to give.
Thank you so much, for your beautiful words!
Eleutheria is a beautiful name -- I've not heard it as a name before.
Eleuthero is one of the excellent herbs to take for the body's adapting to stress. It's a relative of Ginseng, formerly called Siberian Ginseng. Maybe you know all this -- as all ginsengs are excellent for health and stamina.
Good food, and good herbs for medicine and strength, and love, the secret to a happy life I say...
Luscious pix as always -- and I loooove the idea of "creative tomatoes".
As far as giving your mom happiness, we all end up feeling that way! And as long as our moms are still around, we still have time.
I will save.

I have been looking up old Greek words.
`
A lawyer approaches Saint Pete at Gates.
The Guardian says we no eat `Goobers.
The crooked lawyer tried to bribe `Pete.
'Goobers' chocolate covered peanuts rolled.
Pete slipped on the lawyers 'Goobers' nuts.
Lawyers think they eat ice cream in afterlife.
Wrong . . .
`
We are beginning to get Italian Plums Tomatoes.
Maybe we'll make salsa. I gotta prepare a Pot Dish.
Maybe I'll cook a dead `Gecko and serve to lawyers.
You can find snails in `Lactose Sativa and nap too.
Lettuce greens with arugula and hot chocolate milk.
Just thinking, you are right on ""Good food, and good herbs for medicine and strength, and love, the secret to a happy life I say..."". The name of my mother is so common here in Greece, it is true that names, differ from country to country. Nice to meet you, l love to cook also, so read you later!!!
Asia, no I have just put it, thought it right since it is her work, the garden and the loving , I mean .. Thank you for your beautiful words!!
Thank you, Matt, my mother is with me, reading and seeing all of you, and let me tell you, she never had so many "Happy birthday'' wishes, before in her entire life!!!
Art, what a marvellous comment, you are so creative, and a thought inspiration, to all of us!! So many thank you !!
