As Ollie's daughter  I am writing this strictly from family pride. My cuz, Kevin Brown is Dot Com in the television comedy 30 Rock. 30 Rock won the Emmy for best comedy series at the 61st annual Emmy awards televised Sunday Sept 21, 2009.    Bragging rights baby for Kevin, Andre, Cousin Pecola, me and the rest of the Pressley family! 

Kevin and I are related because our grandparents were sisters.   Our great grandparents, Peter and Rachel Pressley had 18 children and lived in Hemingway, South Carolina. 

Kevin's mother, Pecola and Ollie (my mother) were first cousins.   Ollie was called LP (Little Pecola) by relatives.  Both were named after my great aunt, Pecola. 

Ollie eventually settled in South Florida and Pecola moved to New York.  Kevin and I are third generation Pressleys.  We  visited Kevin and his family in Harlem and they spent time with us in Miami.  Ollie kept up with family members, she  was the glue until her demise in 1977.

Ollie's daugher on the other hand, did not keep up with family.  I was too engrossed in contributing to the GNP, retailing for 15 years (left because of merger) and a state employee for 14 years.

Kevin on the other hand took a different route. I do not know details but he and Andre (Dre) became part owners of the Uptown Comedy club in Harlem.    During my 15 year phase of not owning a television it was mentioned to me Uptown Comedy club was televised.

Kevin' is a comedian and an Actor. As the character Dot Com on 30 Rock he  is one of two muscle bound men of Tracy's entourage, Grizz is the other character.   Both Dot com and Grizz are big tall men, I mean really BIG GUYS. 

Dot Com's character made intermittent appearances for seasons one and two.  Season three Dot Com made more appearances and now it is safe to say he is a regular on the show.

After Jack tells him that his need to be the smartest person in any converstaion is offputting, Dot Com ruefully notes "that 's probably why I'm still single." In "Rosemary's Baby" he revealed he used to be part of Phil Spector's entourage."

This year's family reunion in Boston, we found out Kevin was on 30 Rock.   A presence on television is awed by most and our family was very excited to hear of Kevin's accomplishments. We knew it took persistence, sacrifices, a strong will to succeed and support of his family.    It is not easy to break into the acting world especially for African Americans.

But Kevin did and we are so proud of him. I look forward to hearing about some of his experiences.  Kevin is the only person I know who attended an Emmy.  Yes, cuz was there to accept the Emmy with all of the other cast members.

And...... Kevin works with Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey. Wow!  I hear Tina Fey is brilliant.  She channeled that Palin woman.   Cuz learn all you can to share to help us become better in whatever fields we are in.   That is a responsibility of being an African American male, you must help pave the road for other African Americans regardless of if you want to or not. 

We must always remember  we got to where we are on the backs of others so we must lend our backs for support .  (I know the majority of people don't get this attitude but it is not meant for you)  

When I posted on facebook he was my cousin, an African American  woman who is an attorney responded she was a HUGE FAN of DOT COM.  She is getting  an autographed picture.....  Most of my other friends are not too familiar with the show.  I hope they will watch since my cousin is a part of it.
