My Seattle, Why I love it So

Rate: 3 Flag

After eating at Luna Park, a local favorite greasy spoon (albeit overpriced), the family walks to the van, which is parked up a hill.  We always stop to look at the molten steel coming out of the plant.  We stop on the bridge to admire an industry that is almost gone from the USA.
We still have a steel plant and people are still at work in the Nucor steel mill.

This poem was written about this place in Seattle.  It may not be exact, since there aren't extremely tall buildings in this part of Seattle, but it is true to the feeling of awe, I get watching a visored and padded person working the steel.

On the Bridge Over the Steel Factory

smoke curls up from the steel plant
rain hushes the leaves' rustle
drops echo on roofs
the valley between tall buildings
is a shining street, the rain stops
clouds part and dusk takes
the polish from glass and metal
Lights blink on, beacons for bugs
and those below

Nice. I particularly like "dusk takes/the polish off...." I can see it.
Thanks so much Spike The Chicken. It is a simple poem, a photograph of what I love.
Never been to Seattle but I like your description. :)
Thanks Blinddream. I am moving soon. Will miss it.
I like this very much. I know what it feels like to love a city.~r
Perfectly painted visuals throughout.
