Several lawsuits dating from 2007 to 2008 are being permitted to go forward against AT&T and Apple. The lawsuits, now consolidated, claim that Apple had locked consumers into five year contracts that had originally been two year contracts with AT&T.
Judge James Ware of the US District Court of California granted that the lawsuit could go forward to prevent Apple from selling locked iPhones in the US. This is the second lawsuit against the partners to covered in this blog. Last week, Onebyland covered the class action lawsuit over an iPhone 4 antenna flaw.
I predict that the lawsuit could disappear if Apple changes its tactics and deals with consumers in a fair and forthright way.
