Rachelle Ferrell is a consumate contemporary jazz/pop vocalist. I became a fan from the moment I first heard her sing in 1992. She has one of the most smooth and soulful voices in the industry and is one of the most underrated singers in that genre. Her expressive facial machinations only seem to add depth to her craft. One listen to those pipes will send a lighting bolt from your spine down to the tips of your toes.
She’s a pianist, a songwriter, violinist and once taught music with Dizzy Gillespie for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. In spite of her lack of notriety in the mainstream, I wanted to spotlight Ms. Ferrell today so that others will be just as inspired by this talent as I have been for the past 17 years. Enjoy!
"Till you come back to me":
"With Open Arms" (Live!):
"Nothing has ever felt like". Now, this is a bonus because she duets with the Great Will Downing (another underrated singer who puts you in the mind of Luther Vandross....you'll see....!!):
"Sentimental" the equivalent of spending the day in bed with your lover wrapped in silk sheets:
"I'm Special" This may be my favorite:
"Peace on Earth". Still very timely since we're living in pretty much tumultous times:
