Spring is in the air!

Rate: 22 Flag

Spring is nature's apology for the chills of winter. It's a wondrous time when flowers and trees wake from their long slumber to greet us with colorful brilliance as thanks for our patience. I wanted to share a few gems from my garden that I was able to capture this past weekend. I hope that it tickles your cheeks like it did mine and I encourage other gardeners to create their own posts showcasing their gardens.

Beautiful ! Spring is definitely here and its heartening..enjoy !
Difinitely one of my 4 favorite seasons!
Wow, you have quite a lovely garden!

White dogwoods are my absolute favorite flowering tree, and I see that the lilacs are just about to pop. (I went to Kent State University, and there was a spot called "Lilac Lane", a walkway bordered on both sides with huge lilac bushes. In spring, it had the most heavenly fragrance!)

Happy Spring everyone!
what a great back yard you have. pretty, pretty, pretty. thanks for sharing, girl!
Your photos are beautiful, onecorgilover! No flowers are out here yet. I do have a 30' row of lilacs that just started budding but, I so miss my azaleas, dogwood, magnolia and Japanese maple trees from Louisville! Thanks for the pics and the beautiful garden you have! Beautiful springtime! I can almost smell the lilacs, nothing like them!
These are so gorgeous. Thank you for sharing them. Our flowers are not up yet, but when do come up, they'll be amazing. Thanks for the preview of what I am dreaming about.
These are absolutely beautiful. My garden won't look anything like that for at least another month yet, but hope springs eternal...
Have you all gone stark raving mad :-)
It's Autumn for goodness sake...

Hi Dips...thank you for visiting my blog! I'm glad that you enjoyed the scenery!

Bill!! Well, I can't say that I disagree with you. lol

Hi Jeanette! I absolutely love dogwoods....four came with the property and I bought two pinks and two beige/buff ones. More lilacs is one of my short term goals too. Gotta love 'em!
Oh my! You live in a wonderland. I'm thinking "Wind In the Willows" or "Charlotte's Web" here.
What beautiful pictures! I feel like I am right there. Good morning!
I my gosh! The pink dogwood! I would trade all my pansies for those!
Beautiful! Are all these varieties in your yard! So jealous!
It's been so cold, rainy and windy here so no good photos yet! Hope to do this soon, though and share as well. Love spring!
My gosh, corgi, your garden looks like paradise. Your labors have nurtured things of beauty.
Beautiful, beautiful, BEAUTIFUL post!!!! Now, it's colder than a witches nipplage here today!!!! Windy, cold and rainy. Please spring some spring on me!

Thank YOU for coming by, Dharma!

Wow....Pam....I am so envious of your 30' of lilacs.....I only have two bushes right now....but I'm working on it.

FLW.....it will be here before you know it. I'd forgotten that not everyone's flowers have bloomed yet....oops!

Wordsmith....agreed....and you definitely have a way with words! Thanks for coming by!

Mal....see....I was being a little insensitive to you guys in Oz, wasn't I? lol
your backyard is gorgeous!! and I have never loved Azaleas, and now I know that is only because I've never seen them growing in GA- wonderous!
Thank you! You have no idea how badly my soul needed this today. It's 40 and gray and raining (it's been raining and cold for days now.) Your photos are so beautiful that they make me want to move South!
Lovely, lovely!! And that is your backyard??? You are so lucky! You should host a big OS party!!! thank you for this - I am positively giddy over the arrival of spring!
I don't think I've ever seen pink dogwoods. Beautiful!
Oh, this is magnificent, your yard is paradise. The work you put in really shows, and you have a great eye for photograhy. I"ll try to post something on my garden, which is a whole lot more modest, if I can find an angle that doesn't show the weeds.

It's a sad time for gardens in California. We're having a drought. I feel bad about watering and bad about letting the plants die. Right now, they're getting by on the little bit of rain we've had. The cherry trees are gonna bloom, though. They're pretty photogenic.
Hi Kathy and Zuma.....I try to remind myself of the payoff when I am working myself into a frenzy.....it's all worth it in the end. Thanks for stopping by, Ladies!
Beautiful!! You take such great photos and have really captured the beauty of them all.
I had spring fever bad today and had to take a drive around the lake. Forgot the camera at home, but will take it next drive around.
Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely stunning! I'm not about to show my tomatoes and cucumber after seeing your garden. You'll just have to trust that they're doing very well!
That Atlanta sure knows how to bloom! You have a wonderful back yard. Thanks for sharing it!
Hey Cathy,

For some reason, I thought pink dogwoods were common.....but judging from the comments, they aren't. Shows how much I know! Yes, I am always planting something...bulbs, a few seeds, perennials, annuals, shrubs.....I love it.

Thanks, Annette!! I appreciate your stopping by to walk in my garden. BTW, love the flying nun avatar!

KOB....lol....thanks for coming by, guy....and ignore that mean Bill.

Julie, I absolutely love azaleas.....they are all blooming like mad...
This is so good of you, OCL! my garden has been invaded by the Builders from Hell and I could only plant some bulbs in a container as my spring effort this year. But soon, the builders will be gone and I can venture forth again. Til then, I'll be vicariously enjoying these glorious images from your garden, thank you ;) (Rated.)
Lisa, I am happy that the pictures uplifted your spirits. I truly believe that gardens are very therapeutic. Thanks for coming by.

DCV.....don't tempt me. hehehehe I've already mentioned in my interview conducted by the lovely Psychomama, that I'd like to have a garden party! One of these days........

Thanks, Procopius!

Sirenita!! lol Good luck with that, girl.....I have weeds all over!! Yuck! I understand about the drought....we are in year 5 or so of ours. Which is why I have a 275 gallon water tank that I use to capture the rainwater off of our roof. I think if we get, say one inch of rain, we can collect over 80 gallons per hour....so imagine a big rainfall....that large container would overflow a little over three hours. I wish that I had two of them. They are somewhat lifting restrictions. We can now use soaker hoses for an hour every other day (depends on your address). We can water before 10 am for 25 minutes, I believe. If I depended on restrictions, my plants would die, so the rainwater tank helps (I think the tank used to hold pressure washer cleaning fluid, back in the day). I also use a 5 gallon bucket in the shower, to collect water instead of letting it run down the drain....
FE....won't that fever take control of you? I know exactly how you feel......that's why sometimes I just walk outside to listen to the birds, watch the squirrels and rabbits chase one another and admire the butterflies and hummingbirds....man...that's the life!

Mike! I had better see some pictures soon, young man! I'm trying to grow tomatoes too this year.....I don't feel too confident about veggies, but you never know until you try, right?

Penrose....no thank you for coming by to share it with me!

PM, if you want me to....ahem..... to come all the way to Ireland to run those builders off....I guess I can make the sacrifice. Sure, I will be inconvenienced by the emerald green countryside, the mountainous cliffs with views to kill for and a few hundred year old castles might obscure my view every once in awhile....but I am willing tolerate it for a friend.......sigh....

ROFLOL!!
[snip] Mal....see....I was being a little insensitive to you guys in Oz, wasn't I? lol
Just joking about :-)
Actually I am envious of your beautiful garden... Beyond those beautiful flowers I see a well "mulched" garden bed for them to grow in - there is a lot of TLC there...
Take care - and pity us, it's winter in less than 6 weeks.
Mal
Colour me green! With envy! I can't keep plants or flowers alive.
I find gardening so hard to do so I am so incredibly impressed with your amazingly beautiful garden and plants.
These photos are lovely but your garden must be magnificent! Thank you for sharing this beauty!
Oh, that sucks, Mal....well I will be sending wishes that Spring hurries up down under!

Anni, I've murdered plenty in the past (heck, I still do!) but practice makes perfect....start with pots first and work your way to digging in the dirt.

Ariana, you are well on your way.....your herb garden is great!

Thanks for coming by Cartouche!! You are very welcome!
