Re No on 8, I don't have time to add much to what Mick said, here, except to say that the No on 8 folks are being wildly outspent, and really need your donations NOW.
But I did just want to add a plea to folks who are going to vote No on 8 to vote No on 4 as well, while you're at it. Prop 4 is a rehash of a proposition that has been defeated before - twice, if I recall correctly.
Once again folks: Pregnant teen girls who have a decent relationship with their parents will talk to them about deciding whether or not to get an abortion, whether or not they are legally required to do so. Pregnant teen girls who have been beaten, molested, raped, or otherwise mistreated by their parents will not talk to them about getting an abortion even if they are legally required too. Instead, they will resort to back-alley abortions, coat hangers, etc., or wait until it's obvious to their parents what's happening, by which time it may be too late for a safe, legal abortion.
So Proposition 4 will do NOTHING to help parents have better relationships with their teenage daughters, nor will it do anything to protect those daughters from pregnancy. (What we need for the latter purpose is genuine sex education that deals with reality instead of just pushing abstinence - but the Yes on 4 folks would never go for that.) All it will do is hurt teenage girls who have already been victimized in one way or another. Please vote No on 4!
