Hi everyone, this is Doug, aka Shaggylocks, and I'll be the new Book Club Galactic Overlord for this next go-around. Before I introduce the next book, however, I think we must first all give Lorraine, aka fingerlakeswanderer, a rousing standing ovation for spearheading the inaugural book club selection and for the way-harder-than-it-looks-and-it-sure-don't-look-easy task of figuring out how this whole online book club thing was even going to work. Her final discussion for Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book can be found here. I'll give you all a second to stand up and applaud.

Great job, and very much appreciated!
Are you all back in your seats now? Okay.
The next book for the OS Book Club will be...
(drum roll...)
Tinkers by Paul Harding.*

The book is currently selling on Amazon for $11.66, with used copies in the $6-$7 range. You can also nab it brand new for $8 and change at half.com. I just bought my copy at a local bookstore in my area for about $12.
We'll have our first discussion on the first half of the book on Monday, July 6th. Please be prepared to discuss the first 126 pages (the first two chapters) at that time. We'll have our final discussion on the whole book two weeks after that.
If you have any questions, suggestions, complaints, or accolades, you can send them here to the OS Book Club or to me at my Shaggylocks account.
Happy reading, and don't forget to weigh in on the Graveyard Book discussion!
*Tinkers? But Shaggy, isn't that the book you suggested? Yes it is. Now you know how the people in Iran feel! (And yes, that was an intentional Pete Hoekstra-ism)

Use them wisely my son.
With great power comes great responsibility.
So, this has been fun.
Shaggy--feel free to neaten up the joint, change the avatar, do what you will. It's yours now, buddy!
Just teasing, trying to be in a better frame of mind today.
so, wow, you chose the book and you're the leader this time. interesting. wow. and it's a book i have to buy. okay, well, i will keep an open mind and figure that it's a fabulous book and worth buying.
TLK- I'm glad you were able to find it at the library! Even though the book takes place in New England, it became really popular with West Coast book clubs, so I'm not surprised you were able to find it at your library.
I hope you're enjoying the book!
