Partial Chamber of Commerce Foreign Donors List Revealed

Rate: 14 Flag

Rupees

Thinkprogress.org broke the story last week of how the Chamber of Commerce is subverting U.S. campaign laws by collecting money from foreign entities to fund anti-Democratic election ads.

Today Huffington Post provides a link to Thinkprogress.org which has published a partial list from publically available information which reveals that $885,000 in foreign funds goes directly into the same Chamber 501K (c) (6) fund that is paying for their $75 million dollar assault on Democratic candidates.

See the list HERE.

What I notice from the list is a great number of Transnational Corporations from India, followed by the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The days off normal people voting are over, they just hadn't buried it yet. Now, with the Supreme Courts usual 5-4 decision, they are nailing the coffin shut. Excellent links and post. Thanks~
Love ya, Scanner.

Just took an ourdoor shower, dressed and gonna take my walk. (Come back to spam no doubt...)
We should all be cheering now, now the campaigns can now become dirtier, who thought it was even possible!!!!??

:D

Rated. I think these entities who pull this stuff should be dragged out into the streets and shot for treason, but I know that won't happen, cost too much to clean the streets flowing with blood and well, who'd we vote for, most if not all the politicians would be dead.

Change needs to be done but it won't happen in my life time.
I am so reluctant to become a doom and gloom guy but how can I remain hopeful when this type of stuff is fully revealed yet nobody reports it to the general public? We are living science fiction, O'Stephanie. Thanks for the links...I guess.
Thanks and yup. Hence todays Poem..r
This would never be reported on Fox 'news' except for them to lie and say that the liberal press was making it up-which they have already done! R
(Sounding just like my dad) The country is gone down the johnny flusher.
Christine O'Donnell has it wrong - China isn't taking over the US - India and Bahrain are going to split it.
Hopefully the publicity this business is getting will have some effect on the voters...
Kate,
double **sigh**

Tink,
Hard to imagine that it could get any filthier.

My spudman,
I try to remain optimistic as well. In the face of the polls, it is difficult.

tg within,
thanks for the poem. I went over and sighed.

libmomrn,
As long as idiots do not watch any real news and stick to Faux, they know nothing.

Ric,
So, the whole 'fam damily' had a way with words:

"The country is gone down the johnny flusher."

ardee,
We really need to face the fact that the rest of the world is going to be doing better than the old US of A. Canada did not have our financial meltdown because they have old fashioned banks which did not take their money to the casino.

Myriad,
Your comment almost makes me cry. This story is hidden. It should never have been broken by an obscure blog site. Even then, it ought to have been picked up by the MSM. They are owned lock, stock and barrel.
And I think that I have used up my daily quota of cliches'...
I have staunchly refused to close my eyes to this my whole life. I plan on maligning every one of these US organizations or people that betray us with my very last breath. I've done everything I can to keep every measly penny from going to corporations or businesses that don't help ALL Americans.

Tink, if someone shoots these people and there's blood running in the streets all I ask is they do it on a rainy day so we aren't stuck cleaning up their filthy blood. Body disposal with loaders isn't spendy just pile them on, I'll help I have lots of free time. I care as much about their lives as they do about mine. They are just useless hunks of flesh sucking up our money, disposing of them wouldn't offend me.
In AUgust of 2009 when I first started blogging about the Citizens United v FEC case, I was concerned about gigantic US corporations taking hold of elections. I didnt see this one, although that was just being blind on my part. I was mostly concerned with the fact that the Roberts court had requested the case which pointed to a forgone conclusion regarding what they wanted to say about it.
I dont know if there is a provision for removal of justices from the SC nor do I know if such a provision exists if anyone has the courage to use it, but this is really the end of representative democracy as we know it.
Kennedy may be the next justice to step down. As disgusted as I am with the current state of the Democratic Party and the candidates it puts up, I see no choice but to make sure there is a democrat in the White House for the forseeable future (2012 & 2016).
Ok, so you dont think I am nothing if not Black Irish (as me sainted dad would say) there is a bright side to this.
Think of all the lobbyists that will be out of work when business interest no longer have to lobby congress. Instead they will just own a congressional block or 2. There, we just got rid of those disgusting parasites on government, the lobbyists!
l'heure bleue.
I admire a woman who can run a front loader!
As this election gets closer and disaster looms, my thoughts are dark as well...

Tim,
The roberts court requested it? And he is the bastard who had the godlike ego to shake his head at Obama at the state of the union address. May he rot in his Mormon heaven...
For sure, this is the worst thing that has happened. And the fact that there is no general outcry shows that they own the mainstream media as well.
I keep seeing david koch's name on my PBS shows which chills me to the bone. They have even bought scientists as well.
The only thing I hold out hope for is an election turnaround. Damn...
Holy shit, Stellaa.
I have gone to so many chamber of commerce breakfasts, never dreaming they were such assholes.
What is scary is that the corporate bastards in our country (and without) feel no need to hide their corruption. Everything is going their way...
another smash hit from Little Johnnie Roberts and the Supremes, "Money Can't Buy Me Love (But It Can Buy the US Government for Multinational Corporations and Foreign Sovereign Funds)", their biggest since "It's My Party and I'll Steal the Election If I Want To" with former lead singer Big Billie Rehnquist
Roy,
You are on a roll man! Turn this comment into a post! It is perfect!
You got that so right...
Yes, the Roberts court had heard the case and requested it be reargued. They actually ruled on points that were not part of the original case! But it wasn't Roberts who mouthed "Not true" at the State of the Union address, it was another of the Corporate 5 - Alito.
Congress can pass a law forbidding corporations from contributing to political campaigns. All the Supreme Court decision means is that there is no such law on the books. It does not mean that such a law would be unconstitutional.
IF -- notice that's a big IF -- there is a silver lining in this, it's that the merchants of greed have over-played their hand. In the immediate aftermath of Citizens United, conservatives pooh-poohed the notion that ruling would drastically effect elections.

But the rapacity of corporatists and the perfidy of the US Chamber of Whores has proven those of us on the Left right (as always). Sad to say, it remains an open question whether anything can be done in the near term to counteract that horrific decision. But if something isn't done -- and soon -- that decision will spell the end of democracy.
