I GOT AN INTERVIEW!

Just when I had given up…

This particular job posting had closed six weeks ago. With no phone call, I had assumed that I had not made the cut.

Because I had no interview to wait around for, I got a plane ticket to visit a friend for ten days in Palm Springs. Sun and 80 degree days, this would be a welcome break from Oregon’s November.

When they called today to set up the interview, I held my breath, hoping that the date would not fall within those ten days.

I lucked out.

I will have one hour after my plane lands back in Oregon to make it across town to my interview. I can just make it.

Wish me luck!

p.s. I will be gone for a couple weeks from OS.

Please get it. Much luck !
Congratulations and have a grand vacation!
Rated.
Thank you, my friends!

Yeah, JD, it does seem propitious!

(Gotta polish up my resume!)
Enjoy your time away. And, good luck!
Fly high and touch the sky..GL and more.
Good luck! And have a great trip!
Thank you, my OS friends!

"Fly high and touch the sky"
Thanks for that, Algis!
That is greeaat! I guess I will sit here in the could and pout. Yes, I'm that shallow. Only kidding, good luck my friend~!
I sense a job offer in the offing! Have fun and just be yourself in the interview.
Fabulous! Best of luck with everything.
Best Wishes,
Blittie
Good luck. But ONE hour? I dunno. That's awfully close. Airline delays happen, holding patterns happen, problem travellers happen, ground traffic happens.

Could you give yourself more than a hour, by chance? It would be awful to miss an interview because of a flight delay or inclimate weather at the destination or some other such thing outside your control.

Good luck!
Take an earlier flight home - just to make sure. Good luck
I am so happy to read this Steph.
I hope to gawd you got it.
Let us know here. I am sending all the good karma I got to you.
Thank you so much, my dear friends! It is so good to be able to celebrate this with you. May not get it, but it is nice to be asked all the same.

I had always thought that changing flights was an expensive ordeal, but I will check into it. That hour does bother me. I begged for the last slot in the docket, so they switched someone else. I have learned that I should never ignore advice from friends.

And, Scanner, tell you what--I will think of you as I frolick in the pool in the sunshine, soaking up some rays.
Excellent news! Enjoy Palm Springs!
It's usually not too difficult to change flights -- last time I did it they charged me a $75 fee but that's all. You'd want to check on it soon though, while seats are still available.

You can also just look up when an earlier flight is scheduled, and arrive on time for that one. Ask them to put you on the standby list in case someone doesn't show. You'd be surprised how often that works. Good luck!
Have fun in the sun. Nail the interview when you get back; and wasn't there some talk of an Oregon meet up...?
Community is everything.

I was a leading champion of OS being a community when the editors denied it. We won out. It means so much to me to know so many of you, to have shared so much of your selves with me and I with you. And how you help me now. Good thoughts make a difference.

Zella,
I will check on the flight. It may be worth the $75 to have the peace of mind. With the airlines overbooking, there may be no standbys. Gotta do it right!

dynomyte,
Yes, there will be a meetup but after the holidays. Froggie and I thought that would be best and old new lefty worked as hard as a beaver on the GOTV effort (altho I suspect he is a duck) and had no time to celebrate. We will be letting everyone know. I think we have your outside email; if not, pm it to froggie or me.

Love you guys!!!
enjoy your days in the sun, and come back to ace that interview
Yayyy!!!! Break a leg girl!
I'm going in with a good attitude. Also taking a lot of material to study up for the interview. I am sure there is some stiff competition.

Thanks, guys...
Good luck to you! I should think if you got a call 6 weeks after the posting closed, that's a very good sign. Got my fingers crossed!
Thanks, Fay. I will take any sign I can get!
Hurrah! Best of luck, you will be a great candidate, and so deserve this job. And have much fun and relaxing while you are away.
Good luck!!! =o)
And have a good trip
That's exciting news Steph.

"The sun wallowing its giant roe beats my eyes back red and dry
Have you seen it above the highway ruling you like planets?

Taken out of context, but the sun will surely beat your eyes back red and dry down here in the desert - don't forget your sunscreen (gawd, I sound like my wife and I hate wearing that shit) and enjoy your trip, but most of all, I hope you find Salmon :-)
Congrats! How fortuitious!
Best of luck to you!! I hope the job gods are smiling on you!!
Hey Steph, I made it in just under the wire to wish you good luck. You'll have to write about all of the interview dynamics - I love those type of stories - super duper interesting stuff.
