You may have seen the post by Algis Kemezys called Fortune Telling with your ART. It sounds simple enough: use each of the following in a spontaneous drawing - circle, square, triangle, the letter "S". In the drawing, use one of those twice.
After seeing what he'd said in response to cartouche's drawing, I sent him mine:
Now you can see why I prefer to use the computer if I'm going to try to draw something!
Below is Algis' response in bold, broken up by my commentary in italics. On the whole, pretty accurate . . . and much to think about:
Firstly you are a marvel of clear understanding. (I can only say that I really, really try. And sometimes I'm dead wrong. And there's a lot that I don't understand . . . so I try.)
Your are particularly knowledgeable and work within a frame work of knowledge. (Whatever knowledge I have is probably best described as jack of some trades and master of none; a generalist; an inch thick and a mile wide. But it has gotten me this far . . . )
This acts as a double barrier for you so getting to know you is a learning process for anyone who is willing to undertake it. (This has proven to be the case - including getting to know myself.)
You keep everything within what you understand and your sensual side is deeply bedded within yourself and is not meant to be shared with just anyone. (Generally true, although there were a few aberrations in college and young adulthood . . . but true sensuality? Yep. Well protected.)
You are very clear about yourself and that you also keep your desires in check and to yourself unless posting at OS. (Very, very true. Writing has proved very freeing for me, in that regard.)
You also have a good spiritual side and good ambition but your not taking any chances or making any wild decisions. (::sigh:: Sometimes I need to take more chances . . . perhaps even a wild decision once in awhile. No wonder my life seems kind of boring . . . )
Your very solid on your feet and this gives you good confidence. I would say your pretty darn good and your mixing many things up in your life. (A friend once described me as "low to the ground, like a peanut" - it's a line from Vonnegut. When I used to downhill ski, I ran the moguls fast, like a slalom course . . . leaving the ground was simply not comfortable. So physically, and metaphorically, this is pretty much true.)
Your stable and wise. (Stable, pretty much. Wise? Look, I know I have kind of a reputation around here, but really . . . I'm kind of a doofus. If there is any wisdom to me, it's because I know how little I know . . . also, it should be noted that I don't put "wisdom" to work as often as I probably could . . . but as above, I'm trying. I'm very, very trying . . . )
So that's the inside scoop, so to speak.
I want to thank Algis for sharing this exercise . . . and for providing me with a little more insight, as well as a brand new post!
In closing, if you haven't seen Algis' photographic work, you should. It's amazing.

The thing is, I have never really trusted this sort of fortune-telling, it is too much like horoscopes. Now I would be interested to know if he, or any others who do this sort of thing, ever looked at a drawing and found something there that was NOT a positive. I guess I woul like to see more balance in their fortune telling.
I think he pretty much nailed you, Owl.
Robin - LOL . . . a fairly flattering portrait, though . . . love back atcha!
Boanerges1 - I dunno . . . could be.
Sandy Fox - I really am a doofus. You could ask my wife . . . she loves me anyway, but it's true.
I knew all of this before reading Algis' response. Might I add that you are "way cool"
And yes, the photos are absolutely fabulous!
Chuck - Sir, you are also "way cool." And thanks.
Scarlett - Gotta do some fun now and then . . . it's good for my soul!
Kisses, you are the best,
Marcela
Love ya and am glad to see a post from you : )
Well that is a lot of wisdom right there. I don't know about the little part, but I love a person who has humility in spades but also knows when they know. This was wonderful and thank you for pointing me to Algis' work - I had missed it until now. Best.
Thoth - LOL. I always wanted to be cool.
T. Michael - Thanks, man. One hopes . . . one hopes.
Marcela - You totally should! It's good fun, I think.
ladyfarmerjed - I try to be sound. Also relatively plumb and level. I've been almost "prolific" the last few weeks . . . for me, at least.
Sparking - Chica, there's a whole buncha worlds out there that I know nothing about . . . but I'm learning every day.
Gwen - The first thing I thought was damn . . . I look constrained! But that's okay. The whole thing was fun.
LC - I told my wife years ago that I'm better at answering questions than telling people who I am or what I'm about. I've gotten better, but really, I have no idea how anyone gets to know anyone else except by observation.
Dr. Spud - Let me know what you think!
O'Really - It figures . . . Just curious, in your head, who's singing it?
Trudge - Yes. I agree, actually. And probably more b than a . . . I tend to surround myself with distractions.
I'm even more frightened because Algis was so spot-on with his interpretation of Pilgrim's artwork. rated for various reasons - too many to list in such a limited venue...
Sorry, Owl - unless, of course, my earlier theory that you and Pilgrim and Cartouche and O'Really? and blu are all Patricia. It's certainly plausible.
Matt - First, I'm impressed with the subtlety of your blogwhoring in your first comment . . . rewarded by me reading noted post - clearly a disturbed mind at work, which is why I enjoyed it so much. As for the plausibility of me, Pilgrim, cartouche, O'Really? and blu being the same person . . . I think your post has a higher probability of truthiness. Unless we pull in the possibility of me having multiple personality disorder . . . nah. I'd have carpal tunnel if I was doing all that . . .
This was interesting. I was struck by all the enclosed spaces.
Pilgrim - I was struck by that too, such that I did 2 more drawings, and sent them too, but was honest that this was the first of them.
Pavanne - It's an interesting little thing, isn't it? How our subconsciouses may peek through something so simple.
Patty - I'm rarely clever, except when I'm too clever by half.
xenon - I'm honored on all counts. Always.
