Please note that the video is extremely graphic:

The video is now on YouTube & Facebook with the following account of what happened, but at this time, no one has claimed its authoring:
Basij shots to death a young woman in Tehran's Saturday June 20th protests At 19:05 June 20th Place: Karekar Ave., at the corner crossing Khosravi St. and Salehi st. A young woman who was standing aside with her father watching the protests was shot by a basij member hiding on the rooftop of a civilian house. He had clear shot at the girl and could not miss her. However, he aimed straight her heart. I am a doctor, so I rushed to try to save her. But the impact of the gunshot was so fierce that the bullet had blasted inside the victim's chest, and she died in less than 2 minutes. The protests were going on about 1 kilometers away in the main street and some of the protesting crowd were running from tear gass used among them, towards Salehi St. The film is shot by my friend who was standing beside me. Please let the world know.

According to Alexandra Zavis and Amber Smith at the L.A. Times, "The identity of the woman could not be independently confirmed. But she is referred to on Twitter as Neda."

Oh, beautiful girl! What a waste!
nothing beat the bravery of these people they deserve better
I have no words to describe my outrage at the waste of this young life.

I hope someone can find "those words" to end this meaningless slaughter.
NBC News blurred her face when they reported this story last night - protecting viewers from the brutality of brutality.

Her face IS the story. Her lovely face, her accusing eyes. God forgive us all.
I agree with you all. This is a horrific scene & situation.
Tragic chain of events and I'm frightened what lies ahead.
The graphic nature of this film was horrific and surreal but it is important
that we understand what is really happening.
Tragic, tragic, tragic, and more evidence of mindless violence in the guise of maintaining "public order". Sad to say, I have flashbacks to Hungary in '56, Kent State, Miami, Chicago in the 60s, and Tienanmen Square. Let us hope and pray this is instead Poland and Solidarity!!!
