We're having a heat wave!  I don't have central air conditioning, but do have air conditioners in most rooms.  But the hall has nothing and it is hot, hot, hot!  Am I spoiled to complain that it is impossible walking through the hall?  We had a standing fan in there, but it just blew hot air in our faces, and then my husband walked into the fan in the middle of the night and now it is caput. 

Am I spoiled because it's too hot to venture out and buy a new fan?  Yesterday, our car broke down and our battery died, because it was too hot and the battery was old. 

I am actually doing fine.  I have air conditioning.  Think of the people who don't.  I am having a slight breathing problem from the ozone, but not out and out asthma.  Think of the people who do. 

My husband wants to be green and we argue about keeping all the air conditioners on at the same time.  But be reasonable, it's too damned hot!!!

But guess what?  I'm sitting here drinking an iced tea, sitting at my desk with a new air conditioner humming away, with an excuse not to go out or do anything, so why am I complaining?  Because it's too damn hot!!!  And also, and really, because of fear.

The fear generated by the media that people will die.  Lots of people die from extreme heat!!! And an even greater fear.  That we could have a black out.  Could I survive without air conditioning?  I DON'T THINK SO.  It's too damn hot.

As for these jerks that make fun of global warming, aren't they too damn hot?  Or do they immediately jet off to somewhere cool?  Though soon there won't be anywhere cool for anyone, until it once again becomes too damn cold!
