Sarah Palin, you are no Glenn Close

Rate: 2 Flag

At first I had a difficult time understanding my extreme dislike of Sarah Palin.  She has 2 X chromosomes, like me.  I should rejoice at the idea of a woman being a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

But - it has slowly bubbled up to my consciousness.  She is unqualified for the Vice Presidency, let alone Presidency, if that should come her way.  And therefore, it is not hypocritical of this Double-Xer torefuse to blindy wave her flag and utter "You go girl" after her.

She has not just far right wing views on the HYPOTHESIS of creationism, she wants to foist it onto the children she so clearly loves.  And guess what, Sarah dear,  Down syndrome is completely described through an unfortunate mutagenic process, the same as the process of evolution. Creationism would lead one to think that the Creator has a higher calling for her baby; maybe so.

(Most) Parents spend approximately 18 years for each child working to keep them from (a) getting pregnant while not married or (b) getting some girl pregnant.  Apparently, the Palin family had too little input into their family's abstinence program - or is this going to be a virgin birth?  Nope.   We have a father-dude who came forward.

And my personal favorite - the whiff of banning books.  For the Creator's sake, let parents police what their kids read (watch on TV, play on video games, see at the movies, etc.)  It is their DUTY to do this.  Why would an arch conservative Republican want to insert big bad government into the library to keep little naïve children from getting spoiled by reading "certain" books.  This is a throwback to the 1930's and another arch conservative movement whose name I will not utter.

When did Republicans become the party that wants to legislate the details of everyone's private lives anyway?  Did that happen when no one was looking? You can't read that book, it's bad for you, it might teach you about natural selection.  You can't choose to have control over your own body.

Would Palin be on this ticket if she were homely?  Did her looks get her where she is now?  Did her flip-flopping on special spending programs ingratiate her with Washington, and is she a D.C. insider in Arctic fox's clothing?

I'm not bitter about Hillary, she lost her Presidential bid in a good clean race (as clean as they get.)  I'm just astounded that McCain had the lack of judgment to pick this wannabe to put on his ticket.  What was he thinking.  WAS he thinking?  Will he be thinking as President?

I watched "Air Force One" - the movie - again tonight.  Stunning.  Glenn Close played the female VP.  "I know Glenn Close.  Glenn Close is a friend of mine.  And Sarah Palin, you are no Glenn Close!" **

Where is the investigative journalism?  Come on people - we need the straight polar bear poop!  Please stir up some red dust down there on Earth.  Mars Attacks is my next movie selection!

** OK, I made that up, I don't know Glenn Close really. She might make a better VP than Palin though.

Well said! Though, for me, Sarah Palin brings to mind another Glenn Close role, the one involving the bathtub and the hatchet...Better hang on to this piece in the event of future Palin resurrections.

Found this going through the "overlooked" pile. Thanks, Lisa Romero!
