Perhaps I should have done more research on this topic before I posted, but the more I read, the higher my blood pressure rises. (Not really, but I do get angry....and I don't want to feel that way.) From what I've heard and read so far, the Conservatives are not only rewriting history, changing politics, trying to pull the country apart, they're now attempting to rewrite the Bible....one of the oldest and most famous books known to mankind! Why? They think it's too liberal! Isn't that asinine?
How much are they going to rewrite? Both the Old Testament and the New Testament? How about the Ten Commandments which have been a decent code of conduct for quite a few years for most of mankind? I have a feeling the Beatitudes are really in for it. I mean look at them:
THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
For some reason, I have a feeling that Beatitude numbers one and three will undergo editing and rewriting big time considering the conservatives seem to be against the poor and they certainly aren't meek.
My question is: How Christian are these Conservative Fundamentalists? If they can't accept what Christ Himself said, how can they call themselves, "Christians?"
I'm really concerned and confused.

Ben Sen: You don't have to believe everything you read concerning Jesus, but it's pretty far fetched to say He's a "myth."
Gwool: I don't think you would be disappointed in your son if he died to save someone.
Chuck: I agree. Lots of people forget that important part of history.
THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF THE RIGHT
"Cursed are the poor,
for they deserve no healthcare.
Cursed are they who mourn war,
for they shall be called un-American.
Cursed are the un-meek,
for they shall ignore “shut the hell up, woman!”
Cursed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall obviously be pinko, liberal, commies.
Cursed are the merciful,
for they shall give the afore mentioned healthcare to those poor bastards for FREE!.
Cursed are the pure of heart,
for they shall join Greenpeace.
Cursed are the peacemakers,
for they shall make the dividends we receive from the military-industrial complex fall .
Cursed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the Office of the President of the United States of America."
I do not see "him" as vastly different from many of the other energies that have been identified and worshipped throughout the ages. I agree with Jung, that "religion" is an instinct (unlike Freud) that can manifest itself in many different ways.
Fundamentalism and literalism, however, in this view is the least spiritual and most easily manipulated form of faith. That's why it is more likely to be a "stage" in a conscientious person's development and not the form they come to really believe in when they are no longer under the control of the institutions and proselytisers.
Clearly, common sense isn't their strong suit.
Hypocrisy Rules - I think I'll change my name to that.
A warmonger willing to kill his fellow human beings for money, because 99% of wars are fought for profit, after all, must believe in violence. The Old Testament is full of violence and war! And an obscure, out-of-context reference in the Old Testament is the "Christian" reason to condemn homosexuality. These "same" people were the ones who used an obscure reference in the Old Testament to justify slavery.
I think the name of that place is called Texas... ;)

how can they be so sure so far from the time of Christ?
no one can
Jesus Was A Liberal
When Jesus walked among the sick He healed them by his word.
He never asked for money or if they were insured.
What Would Jesus Do? Your answer is right there.
When Jesus walked the upon earth He provided free health care.
chorus
So I guess Jesus was a liberal. It can’t be denied.
He said "Blessed are the poor and meek"
not the ones with wealth and pride.
Since Jesus was a liberal you’ll have to decide.
Since Jesus was a liberal was God still on His side?
They brought the women to Jesus. Stoned to death she must be.
For breaking the laws against adultery.
Jesus just forgave her, sent her on back home.
Taught those death penalty fans about casting the first stone.
(chorus)
The Pharisees and Sadducees they were the status quo.
Jesus called them vipers, said "On you I cast woe!"
He was always butting heads with the powers that be.
Jesus spent His life questioning authority.
After Jesus left the earth, how did His disciples live?
They held everything in common, gave all they had to give.
Provided for all the needs of their community.
That don’t sound much like a market driven economy.
(chorus)
Now this is just a silly song to get you to ponder ‘round
What we’re being fed and what we swallow down.
Which candidate would He support? What party would He abide?
I bet if Jesus was here today, He’d be disgusted by both sides.
