Bio
I am a poet-essayist-singer-songwriter, and advocate for the poor, with a teaching and counseling background. I grew up in Florida, now live in Asheville, North Carolina. I also lived in New England 20 years. I love nature, music, and poetry. I am married and we have three adult-kids between us and four grandkids! I am interfaith, leaning toward Taoist, Celtic, and Native American spirituality, and an "Obama Democrat." Currently, I am working on poetry and prose as well as publishing political columns. I am also phone banking nationally for Obama.

Trying Again

Rate: 2 Flag

alone in the night, tomorrow unknown

transfixed by the sound of the cicada

He does not know, but I am concerned for Obama

he does not know, concerned for his family

concerned for my friends, and of course loved ones

I also listen to the tree frogs, remember all those in bondage

with many blessings, in the world not only for self

courage is getting up, trying again

'Alone' is sometimes what makes the night better than the day. In my case, anyway.
Gotta have that solitude within the sounds and/or sights of nature to get the natural courage flowing.

I can't believe I've read two good poems on OS in under two minutes. Universe provides, huh?
