The following is an experimental sequence of one-line poetry. Each line contains either 10 or 13 syllables...describing time spent in the hospital with my wife, Linda, and our return home...
at the hospital with Linda pigeons on the roof
Linda in crisis we push the buzzer no one comes
wandering up and down the white hallway
doctors and nurses in blue memory of childhood
mammoth crane looms above, linking the past and present
second day when will we get out of here?
a student nurse her kind face gives Linda her last shot
I wish the pigeons could come home with us
finally out the sliding door, into a different world
back on 52 we pass poor folks riding their bikes
now back home the next phase of our journey together
