What is Wrong with America, My Country?

Rate: 8 Flag

A chaotic day at work and home. The worst thing is that our cat Fiona was apparently shot by some unknown person. We will not know if she is going to survive till tomorrow. Her temp was 106 and there were maggots in the wound, when we finally realized what had happened.

We are fed up with this neighborhood--proven to not be safe for our cats. This reminds me of how kids at school make light of abuse of animals--defending dog-fighting, for example. It also reminds me of the film we are showing them at school--The Amazing Grace--about the slave trade--which depicts how slave traders regarded Africans as less than human, therefore not deserving of humane treatment. It also reminds me of how Obama has been depicted as an "alien," Muslim, socialist, and terrorist by crazies on the right--seeking to dehumanize him.

We also showed the kids the nature film "Bear," which has a great message about the brutality of hunting for sport a beautiful and endangered animal like the bear.

I know, the past decade it seems to have become so much worse. I'm so sorry about poor little Fiona, I hope she's okay. I'm going to give HayleyCat an extra treat tonight, my life would be bleak without her.
What is wrong, Patrick? Things too many to list.
I'm with you Patrick & so sorry about your cat.
I don't understand my country anymore.

What kind of s-bag would shoot a cat?

This makes me so angry.
I hope Fiona makes it.
nothing new. it's about where it was in 1776. as for cat shooting, that is typical development for a psychopathic murderer.
Poor Fiona! I'm so sorry. I hope she makes it.

For the last ten years especially, I've been asking myself the same questoin. I feel like I'm in opposition to a national trend. I'm hoping people are beginning to wake up, to think 'wait a minute, this isn't making our lives better.' Not only are the rich getting richer at the expense of everyone else, they're getting a lot more callous about kicking everyone else in the face, all so they can continue to pay the least amount in taxes they can get away with.

Basically, it's just that people have stopped being ashamed of what they've always been doing. The country began with genocide.
All countries have their good and bad citizens Patrick, am sorry about what happened to Fiona and am glad people here referred to her as Fiona and not as your 'pet cat'. Nothing is wrong with your country bec so many of you still think and write about what matters to all os us around the world :) A big hug and a rate
:(

I don't know but I hope whoever shot your cat gets ran over by a steam roller!! ~GRRRRRRRR~
Needless to say, I have no sympathy for anyone who would shoot a cat!! Or any other pet, for that matter.
However, just to ease your mind a bit. It is actually good that maggots were in the wound. They have been used for centuries to "eat infection" where antibiotics are not available. Those ugly little critters may have actually saved your cat's life.

As to why anyone would do that -- people are getting more and more weird every day. My latest blog might possibly offer some sort of an explanation for how weird ideas get accepted so easily.

I'm pulling for the cat too.......!

.
I pray for Fiona, really.

It isn't your country anymore, Alice.
