"This time I'm gonna get it right"

Bob Seger

The beginning of another week, and I love the feeling of starting over, the chance to get it right all over again. And I love this time of day, a fresh cup of coffee  and writing in the darkness before dawn.

Last night when we arrived home, as I was unloading the car, I looked up and saw the bright moon and breathed the mountain air all over again. And yes, it felt good.

As we drove up into the Blue Ridge the mountains looked misty and you could not help but notice the strange formations of the clouds in the sky. Nature foretelling both mystery and radical change.

The trip to Myrtle Beach was better than before. We found a little motel that just felt low-stress, and the staff was very frriendly. And we found a beach that conveyed the same feeling.

There were not too many people out and the waves were gentle. The seagulls were not afraid of us at all. Near the beach I heard the cry of one of my spirit birds--the dove. Very loud, conveying its message.

To me, the message of the dove is that of deep spirituality, of the crow is that of creativity and asserticeness, of the hawk is that of the spirit soaring and a much wider perspective on the cosmos.

Everyone has their own spirit animal. Another one of mine is the rabbit, which I usually see at dawn or twilight, when no one else is around. The feeling that I get is that of solitude combined with intimacy.

A new day. A new week. A new chance to get it right. So many mistakes in the past, traumatic events I can never forget.  But I can look back at them with a fresh perspective.

I just saw the moon too. We can get it right and then wrong again and then right again. There is no final destination. It is riding the waves that is important. Right feels good but without wrong times it doesn't make sense.
Sounds like you had a great trip. A new week, a new chance. Last night here the sky was so clear and the stars so bright, it was beautiful. No mountain air, though. :)
This is wonderful Patrick, and so true. Every day holds new promise and an opportunity to start fresh. A perfect Monday morning post. Thank you. Coffee will soon be brewing.
Great stuff here. You are helping all your readers start the week on a very positive note. Thank you. R
I love your outlook Patrick, also picturing you writing in the darkness before dawn with your coffee close by. And the way you see magic in the ordinary things most people take for granted.
Glad you had a good weekend. Right or wrong, everything happens for a reason - and it's up to us to learn from the mistakes.
