Bio
I am a poet-essayist-singer-songwriter, and advocate for the poor, with a teaching and counseling background. I grew up in Florida, now live in Arden, North Carolina. I also lived in New England 20 years. I love nature, music, and poetry. I am married and we have three adult-kids between us and four grandkids! I am interfaith, leaning toward Taoist, Celtic, and Native American spirituality, and an "Obama Democrat." I am now focusing on our upcoming move (within Asheville) as well as my music and poetry-writing. I also continue to write political columns.

The Meaning of Radical Change (100 word essay)

Rate: 2 Flag

Each morning (like now) I wake up with the idea in my head that radical change is possible internally and in the wider world. And that is true. But what does that mean? For me, it means that the past has fallen away and is not dragging me down anymore. It means that I am prepared to abandon some negative behavior (like yelling) and stick to it. It means that I am going to undertake something brand new, and reach out to the world, and stand up to those who lack a conscience and care, ultimately, only about themselves.

I think you have a point, but I'm more conservative and I don't want to start a great political debate (I get enough of that on Facebook) but I just prefer to stick to things that work. Change is good, but not neccessarily all the time. But, I think you know when it's good - like you said, dropping the negative habits and doing something different for once. All the best! (:
This is not really a political post, though...
It is liberating to let go (thanks for reminding me), and easy to keep bad trains of thought. Good luck with the change. May your liberating moment be joyous.
Wow. I need to believe you because I am in transition.
You can just feel when the cycle is ready to change, the power gathers itself, and then the rebirth!
