Bio
I am a poet-essayist-singer-songwriter, and advocate for the poor, with a teaching and counseling background. I grew up in Florida, now live in Arden, North Carolina. I also lived in New England 20 years. I love nature, music, and poetry. I am married and we have three adult-kids between us and four grandkids! I am interfaith, leaning toward Taoist, Celtic, and Native American spirituality, and an "Obama Democrat." I am now focusing on our upcoming move (within Asheville) as well as my music and poetry-writing. I also continue to write political columns.

There's a song in their somewhere, Patrick.
I think Johnny Cash sang, "I've Been Everywhere, Man." I haven't lived that many places: Bushnell & Macomb, IL, Detroit, MI, & now Austin, TX.
Cool, idea Patrick. To keep some semblance of anonymity, I will say I have lived on both coasts, in the south, in the midwest, in the east, in the interior west.
You got me beat: Subic Bay, Philippines; Pensacola, FL; Mobile, AL; Hampton, VA; Subic Bay again; Alexandria, VA; Cherry Hill, NJ; Virginia Beach, VA; Blacksburg, VA; Norfolk, VA; Virginia Beach for quite some time now.
Are you running from the law?

Do you have a favorite, Patrick? : )
I thought Asheville, NC was one of your abodes...from one of your older posts...?
Funny how you can live in one area for many years, yet still have a pile up of places you've lived...even in our current town we are in house #5....caught in the real estate boom a few years ago now and landlords kept selling their house out from under us.
We finally bought a house and I'd go without eating before I willingly let go of this house to move again...
Patrick,

I will tell you where I have not lived instead. I have never lived on Staten Island, nor Long Island, in Queens, in the Bronx, New Jersey, Connecticut, nor Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I just needed to clear up more of the misinformation floating around OS about me.

This is such a fun idea for a post. How about an open call?
Love Asheville, where I am living now. I like the South and New England, in general.
Patrick,

I did live in a Tiny But Beautiful Village right near Milwaukee though, just six blocks from my nieces' and nephew's home, though. It was a lovely place to live for all those years since I got to watch the five of them grow up.
Gary IN, Vicenza Italy, El Paso TX, Trucksville PA, Mainz Germany, San Carlos, Belmont, Redwood City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Arcadia, Pasadena, Del Mar CA, Ocala, Hialeah, Hollywood FL, Saratoga Springs, Gansvort, Elmont NY, Ft. Lee NJ, Louisville KY, Renton WA, Portland OR, Aiken SC.
This might help people to connect in this way.
This might help people to connect in this way.
I wish this were an open call. Cedartown, GA; Valdosta, GA; Folkston, GA; Kadena Base, Okinawa; Camp Bechtel, Okinawa; Gate Two, Okinawa; Sasebo, Japan; Incrilik, Turkey; Incrilik Base, Turkey; Obenarbach, Germany; Landstuhl, Germany and homebase is Marietta, Georgia. I've not lived in the states since 1991.
Quite a few, but not as many as you:

Seattle, WA.
Mercer Island, WA.
San Mateo, CA.
Santa Clara, CA.
Cupertino, CA.
Los Altos, CA.
Larkspur, CA.
Highland Park, Ill.
Lake Forest, Ill.
Greenwich, CT.
Bloomingdale, NJ.
Bedford, NY.
Queens, NY.
Kansas City, MO.
South Lake Tahoe, CA.

Not necessarily in that order!
About as many places as you. I think I was a gypsy in another life.
Not too many for me: Lubbock, TX, Abilene, Tx, Colleyville, TX, Arlington, TX, Watauga, TX, Tempe, AZ, Fort Worth, TX, Mansfield, TX. TOO DAMN MUCH TEXAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How do you make something an open call? I forgot Zuni, New Mexico.
I am amazed by all of these places. But I shouldn't be. Most of us are vagabonds.
I've lived in four states.
It is humbling to note that this has received more response than almost all of my other individual posts!
Geez ~ I've long since lost count! One of my closest friends and long-time accountant once told me I was the most responsible gypsy she'd ever known ... The first time she only had to prepare a tax return for ONE state, I threw her a party!! It was a doozy! HA!

Interesting thread ~R ~ ;-}
You've lived so many places!! I'm jealous that you lived in Atlanta! That place is beautiful!!
I've lived in 2 places in WI, just 20 minutes from each other. But when I'm older, I count on moving around a bit, and traveling a ton! (:
That magic concept, Patrick : home.
