For the Working Poor (and for anyone working hard to lead a responsible and caring life and creative life)
almost falling apart but not quite I am still here and now feel alright nothing can stop me from trying, 'cause, you know, my spirit ain't dying I am wide awake in the darkness before dawn I'll still be here when the phonies and synchophants and sociopaths and ravenous wolves are all gone
I am the working man, though I don't make much money I am the advocate, 'cause the way the working poor are treated nowadays, it's not what justice is all about and it ain't funny
anyone with a conscience can see that if we allow anyone to be enslaved that none of us is free
still here in the darkness, waiting for the dawning of the light still here to try again though I've been knocked down still here for my good friends and the ones I love still waiting for the mystery cry, I mean the cry of the dove
there's no one gonna stop me from holding my head high no one's gonna stop me from living with a purpose and making music until the day I die
