Soooooooo, we meet with the Oncology Radiologist, Dr. Tisdale, and a radiation program is worked out. They will be doing his whole head but not his lung since the tumor is not near the brachial plexus.
Dr. Tisdale asks, " Do you want to see your CT scan?" Jeff says yes and, since I have never seen a picture of my enemy, I get up my nerve and look. I am totally blown away. When I heard Tuesday that Jeff had had no response to the chemo my crazy math kicked in and I was prepared to see a tumor 6 inches wide. That is not what's there. The tumor has grown 5 millimeters. I confess to Dr. Tisdale what I expected to see and he tells me that, "they don't grow that way". And, even better, there is a black center and that means it's dying there. Whoot.
The oncologists consider a response if the tumor has shrunk 50%. okokok, Maybe he doesn't have a response.(only 20-30% respond.) But it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. So I will take this and be exceedingly amped. God knows there is precious little to celebrate these days. I'll take anything I can get and be glad I've got it!
