Bio
Aw jeez, I have the worst time with this. So for now, it's best to keep it simple. I've been a writer since I could, a musician just as long, songwriter for 20 years, and make a living in the music end of things. I do occasionally write for publications, usually about music (but once about being nuts), have been acting (as if) for several years now, and have been working on two plays for the last 9 months. I like walks on the beach (since I can't swim), cooking, traveling, reading, but most of all...sleep. Ahhh, sleep.

A Lesson On How The People Gave Up The Power

Rate: 2 Flag

This country was founded to do away with tyranny. Now many of Wisconsin have accepted a young and bought tyrant into the ranks of politicians. While corruption is unfortunately an almost given fact of politics, we the people are standing against it in a way we haven't in decades. I remain encouraged by the actions of many that we can finally bring to bear the tenet that our Representatives, Senators, Governors, and Presidents are working for US. Once, early in our country's history, you would vote for the farmer in your community who chose to stand for your interests, the industrialist who wanted you to work, the soldier who fought for your freedom. These days, one only need get a degree in law and then exploit it and all it teaches him/her to land a place in government and live for free forever after at the expense of the people. It's time we tell our employees, the government, that we will no longer put up with such arrogance, that we will vote them out, recall them, protest their selfish actions and bring this country back to the historic point where "We the people" mean something. I truly believe that Americans on all sides of the issues feel this. Let us find this common ground and work again to bring all the worldly knowledge we can into rebuilding this "great experiment" and show the world that Democracy does work... that we are not a Plutocracy!

except that the usa is not a democracy. it was designed to be an oligarchy for the purpose of protecting the wealthy from the mob.

the things that they told you in high school, they ain't necessarily so.
@al loomis - Yes, but surely you agree things need to change? Bottom line is, oligarchy or not, the government's role in deregulation and policy change has caused the current crisis. And now our elected officials are further decimating our lives by trying to pass laws that harm our basic rights and our livelihoods. We have every right to stand up and say, "Enough!" because they are only representing themselves, and not the people who put them there. Fortunately, this "oligarchy" in the guise of a democracy still allows us to do that.
