The Meaning of Love

Rate: 9 Flag
passion

Where true Love burns Desire's Love's pure flame;
It is reflex of our earthly frame,
That takes its meaning from the nobler part,
And but translates the language of the heart
                                             -Samuel Taylor Coleridge
---

An unfettered heart
unconditionally free-
wields virtue sublime

 ---

Desire's illusion
obscuring reality-
truth comes from within

---

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.                                                                  1 Corithians 13:4-7

---

To you, I express my devotion,

my thoughtfulness and encouragement.

I dedicate myself to your prosperity.

To you, I pledge my unyeilding fidelity.

This vow to you I promise,

for love is more that lust

and more steadfast than desire.

I ask naught in return,

for love needs not an answer.

True love's unconditional nature

will out over all.

I will be yours forever.

soothing and beautiful ~R~
are these wedding vows? I especially love the Corinthians verse. Always have. Some excellent poetry in the Bible.
The recipient of this affection is quite lucky.
scanner - just trying to add some beauty to the world
chuck - thanks
skel - I wrote the 2 haikus in the middle and the verse at the end is my creation of vow based on a Buddhist class and some reading I was doing so I guess yes it is a wedding vow. 1 Corithians 13 is my favorite bible passage.
OM - I am lucky to have her.
One of my favorites and how my husband and I lived: "Love has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other but in looking outward together in the same direction." ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery
Came home tonight from the turkey dinner. Found it fairly unfulfilling. Then I came upon your beautiful poetry. Now I feel filled. Thank you.
