No New Year's Resolutions for me, but...

Rate: 4 Flag

I don’t do New Year’s Resolutions anymore, but I have found a way to honor the new year. I make a list of  my strengths, what I do well, the things about me that I think are deserving of more recognition.

I hated new year’s resolutions because they made me pay attention to my faults and my weaknesses and we all know now that what we pay attention to comes true. And I never really followed through and had guilt and shame for months.

From what I read now, where I put my attention is what will actually come to fruition. So, it seems to me I should do more of what I am good at, at what I want to be or be or what gives me pleasure.

2009 commitments to my own strengths, desires, and pleasures:

  1. Read more books
  2. Drink more whiskey
  3. Tell people I like them more often
  4. Spend more time with people I really care about
  5. Ask for something I really want
  6. Wear more red
  7. Laugh more often… and louder
  8. Carve out more time to write
  9. Dig deeper on OS
  10. Find ways to connect more deeply with money
  11. Don’t give up on finding my flock
  12. Give books as gifts
  13. Cry if I want to
  14. Be open to intimacy
  15. Run my life with the 3 ps: people, planet, profit

though money is less important to me, I can't think of anything else in your list to differ with.

Happy 2009...
These are good ideas. I think I'll borrow some to start my own list, if that's okay.
I like your style! Happy New Year!
Hey sis, I think you aught to re-think # 6 - You have always had great skin color - I remember (what seems like eons ago) you looked great in tans, shades of greens and blues. These tones suit you well. As for resolutions, I want to focus on the strengths in my life and those other items you mentioned will fall into line. Great list - Let's start by you and I connecting more often.
i'm trying to develop a better relationship to money -- something that reflects the value of the personal exchange and maybe i'm trying to figure out its importance to me ... thanks for your letting me see this again, Brian,
yes, yes, do your own list and then let me know it's up and running biblio....
and happy new year to you too gracielou...
yes, dry fly, a deeper connection -- and a nice holiday gift just to reconnect as we have....
i wish you great success on your commitments paula; they all sound worthy to me. and thanks for visiting my ponds!
