Our president-elect reads books

It matters to those of us in the book world that people read, or don’t read, books. We have all read the sad statistics* about books and reading, such as:

  • 58% of US adult population never reads another book after high school
  • 80% of US families did not buy or

"Milk" is about all of us

I’ve seen Milk. Twice. The first time was opening day, Wednesday before Thanksgiving and it was raining. I went to the Castro Theater by myself.

I am so proud

Barack Obama has been elected President. I’m in tears. I see all these faces on TV and I am so proud. This is a reflection on how we have changed and how we are changing. I so deeply believe this will change how we are in the world and I hope… Read full post »

Land Use for Energy

I am all for renewable energy. I am for significant efforts and even sacrifice to move our economy away from fossil fuels and slow-renewing natural resources (oil, gas)... but what I am seeing as the solutions make me nervous. I am seeing things I don't want to see. I am realizing… Read full post »

Things the next president can do that will cost little or no money.
  • Release the scientists
  • Review currents rules and regulations and start enforcing the ones that fit our vision
    • FDA
    • EPA
    • Fed Reserve
  • Make government more transparent and more easily transparent (pork, bailout actions)
  • Plan to use the
