Puff lay, so patiently, waiting, and suddenly, a door.
Esmeralda turned the key in the lock and stepped into the apartment, setting her two bags of groceries on the floor as she double locked the door behind her.
“Oh, Puffles! Did you miss me? Let me just get out of these wet clothes and I’ll get you some food.”
Singing softly to herself, Esmerelda lost track of her whereabouts and tripped, barely missing the cat who had started nosing around the groceries. She picked up the bags and set them on the kitchen counter.
“Damn! Puff, get out of there.” Esmeralda shooed the cat and collected herself. She slipped out of her clothes and grabbed a robe off the back of the closet door. Sliding her feet into her slippers, she scuffed back down the hall to the kitchen.

Puff hated it when she cooked. Distracted by the rain, the cat, and the groceries, Esmeralda didn’t hear Jeff when he came into the hallway, shaking the rain off his umbrella as he kicked off his shoes.

“Jeez, Jeff! What the hell are you thinking?” Esmeralda turned off the stove and slid the eggs onto her plate.

Especially since I just spent 15 minutes re-doing the wiring between my TV, DVD player and stereo so I can hear Short Circuit in movie EQ with surround sound. At least, as much as you get from a bookcase stereo. I cannot believe I got it so fracked up.
