Existential Sky- Second Gallery Challenge

Another beautiful morning to drive to work. The drought this year is giving some excellent colors to the sunrises. I am totally in awe, and have to force myself to put the camera down so that I can drive in a reasonably straight line. Isn't that blue sky beautiful.

This inspired me to think about God and the wonders of the world. I wondered why God would make something this beautiful for us to enjoy. What did we do to deserve it?

Of course, I said to myself that it is physics, the refraction of light through moisture in the atmosphere, that creates these beautiful views. Then, I became the universe.

Have you ever done that? I have a couple of times before this, and it was a bit scary. Today, I was more accustomed and enjoyed the feeling of being one with space and the planets and the dust. It was all me and I was it. This picture is the closest I could find to what I saw...

I wasn't flying through space, I was space. The orbs spinning, life all around me. We aren't earthbound beings. We are life. We are all connected in ways we can't imagine because we are all one. Why would a being create this universe? What makes humans so special? What is the purpose of this vast entity?

This vast entity is us.

Just phyllis, these skyrises, made me awe the beauty of God. It is true that in the sky, we all turn our hearts, eyes, tears, so as to meet God. Your work is a true beauty, it has been too long since I saw an early awakening of the sky. My favourite hour is this, and the night. I have never felt like sρace, must be a glorious feeling to have inside, although there are writers saying that we humans, are microuniverses!! Great work, just loved it!!! Thank you so much!!
WOW
Those colours
~R~
Beautiful skies!
Stathi, it is a glorious feeling. Pure energy. I'm glad you like my offering to your challenge. I enjoyed it.

M.C.S., aren't they amazing. This is what my phone does to the sunrise.

Lea, thanks! Indiana has good sky.
it is called "nature mysticism' and actually is the lowest level
of True vision, sort of an emersonian thing.
the feeling is not worth hanging onto
cuz you tend to chase it, ha,
believe me.

then there is worship of a god who is you.

then there is mystical worship of void, yet return to see
it all jives up.

shit i am working on your kind. so:yes is my answer
James, I think it's a cool sensation. I don't think I'll be chasing it, though, because so far I have only stumbled across it while driving. Not good timing on my part.
Stunning, inspired, inspirational, sensational - and oh boy, are you right when you say, "Indiana has good sky." I always knew that, but never saw it put so well. /R
Great post. I have only had that feeling once a long time ago. Miss it every day.
Rated.
nilesite, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Scylla, I hope you find the feeling again. You deserve it.
Really nice! And I think you are right - it is us.
It is hard to comment on this type of beauty without sounding trite.
Spectacular photos, you have a good eye. We don't have to do anything to deserve it. Didn't you ever just give someone a gift because it made you feel good to give it? Earth is a miraculous playground and our bodies are the most fabulous playground equipment. Puff and Haley understand these things.

I shouldn't get started, I'll get down on myself because I wasted so much of my life being super productive instead of useful things like stargazing. Blech. Beautiful sky there, it was 108 here today and nothing but grey clouds, strange day here.
desert_rat, thanks. It felt right, in that moment. Harder to see when earthbound.

H.R.Der R., thanks.

Dianne, I know what you mean. I was just lucky to be there.

Maureen, thanks.

Bleue, that would be a strange day. Did you ever think that you had to spend your youth as you did so you could appreciate the important stuff now? I ponder that, sometimes.

B. P., thanks.
Jonathan, thanks! Today was, too.
Beautiful beyond measure. Thanks for sharing.
Erica, my pleasure.
Just beautiful Phyllis! Whenever I see that kind of beauty the only words that come to mind are "Thank You".
Phyllis,
I'm curious what region of Indiana. I lived in Lafayette for a while. The skies were panoramic and sometimes spectacular. I once had a colleague/friend move East from Nebraska and talk about how she couldn't see the sky; it wasn't until I lived in Indiana that I understood what she meant. I doubt I could locate the photos but one of the things I saw out there was rainbows, unbelievable rainbows, double full arcs ground to ground where the spectrum direction reverses in the inner one, rainbows that I hung around to watch until they left but that lasted so long I actually got bored, and one rainbow that was photographed for the cover of the local paper, printed in BLACK & WHITE, and was still clearly visible.

I can't imagine that if you're down in, say, Bloomington, that you'd see skies like that in too many places because the terrain is too hilly and wooded. (This isn't a rivalry comment - Bloomington would have been a better fit for me than Lafayette as a resident. If you're in Indiana, you understand exactly what I mean by "rivalry comment.")
Oh, I found this because of a Readers' Pick nomination. I was reading the RP comments.
Oh, great pictures. I should shut up and get to the point once in a while.
Lovely photos. The sky is a glimpse of the infinite. Tat Tvam Asi.
Yes, I have been there too. And, you know, when you experience that and get comfortable with that, it makes it so much more unlikely that you will want to put up with the petty bs that is daily life for most people.
We just finally started getting a sunset or two in AZ, we have had fewer clouds and not as many rainbow sunsets as usual. Naturally, I am never awake for dawn, but my sweetie is, and he posts a lot of glorious sunrises on his Instagram.
A. S. S., you're welcome.

Kosher, I live in a fairly flat part. Not many rainbows lately but I'll start looking for doubles. And thanks for the info on the RP. I had no idea.

Stim, you said it perfectly.

Oryoki, thank you for the insight. I look forward to getting closer to that. And your sweetie is very thoughtful.

Jmac, thanks.
i ask this, everyday, certainly, lately:
"This inspired me to think about God
and the wonders of the world. I wondered why God
would make something this beautiful for us to enjoy.
What did we do to deserve it?"

my study of philosophy says this.
either God is the creator of the universe ( i dont believe that)
or God is the first Creation of the utter primal Creativity that
is 'yearning ' for actuality.

God? he is Actual as well as Potential. A companion looking over yr shoulder every mintute, w/o judgment, hungry for experience,
actuality
or

a pregnant void of poetentiality. both. bipolar god.
oh man, phyllis. the pictures are too beautiful, and the sentiment gives me goosebumps. it is all one. too bad so few recognize that.

thank you.

James, I like that. God as voyeur. It has a rhythm to it.

Daisyjane! Goosebumps are good. I hope you are able to help people see the truisms in life.
Beautiful skies --
I like the accompanying existential thoughts that go along...lovely, Phyllis.
I tend to disagree with James's defining of your thoughts, by the way...hardly lowest form of true vision...
Beautiful work, sky is indeed in your heart.
J.T., thanks! I will let you and James duke it out. I don't know enough about mystical stuff. I just know I've had a good week since then.

Olga, thank you! I do love the sky.
Ooooohh, a new ensemble your avatar is wearing : )
JT, isn't it cute! A little camo, girl style, and a stylish chapeau.

Miss P! where have I been? I saw this on RP. First, yippee, congrats! More importantly, it's pretty terrific looking at your sky through your lens. You know I am a big sky-gazer, well, a little sky-gazer, and it makes me happy to know we are under the same dome together.
Emily, you were busy writing about Kata, which was an excellent post but somehow, my comment went poof! again. And the RP took me by surprise, definitely. Thanks!
I head to work right at sunrise and driving into the sun. While it can make seeing hard, the sunrise is always beautiful!
Painting, 100% agreed.
