I Voted- For Myself!

Rate: 8 Flag
And a few others, of course.

Obama- 4 more years!

Woohoo!

I am very excited right now.

Here's a song to help you feel good, too!

Okay, on to the serious. I voted Democrat because, imho, Democrats are more willing to work together. I voted for Donnelly because he has shown that he will work with everyone to get the job done. I voted for Gregg mostly as a vote against Pence, but also because I like what he says about balancing the state budget, which he's done before as leader of the state legislature, and he seems a reasonable guy who wants good for Indiana. Ivoted against Rokita bacause he voted against everything that would have been good for Purdue, which is in his district.  I like at least the appearance of playing well with others. And I voted no to retaining the judges in office. Someone has to, since they usually get a pass every time.

So there it is, my contribution to the next 4 years.

Best of luck to you.

I only vote in local elections ... the state/national scene is a buncha BS.
Well, that doesnt make me feel real good, Phyl, the song.
I am a bit more into, uh, more masculine stuff.
But your cheer makes me feel good!
The hairdo's in your song are utterly uncanny.
"i got looks i got brains success is mine!"
you have boggled my brain.
!
well luckily i am back to Emerson again.
He says it all, rather flowerishly , but he's from another era.
Like yer song.
"A man should learn to detect and watch
that gleam of light
which flashes across his mind from within,

more than the lustre of the firmament of bards and sages.

Yet he dismisses without notice his thought,
because it is his.
In every work of genius
we recognize our own rejected thoughts:
they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty."
~
i am trying hard to apply this to yer song, phyllish.... : )

Thanks, Joisey. I added more after your comment; I just needed to say more.

James, same there, I added more. Emerson is right, I do dismiss my thoughts. Gotta quit doing that. I am so wired today! Gotta get the energy out, but the radio isn't helping much. Right now is You Spin Me Round by Dead or Alive. Yowza!
oh, i was going to comment, but i avoid places frequented by pond scum. maybe some other time.
pond scum???????
what, now?
and
who is "You Spin Me Round by Dead or Alive. "?
Heaven's sake, P, you must seek out
some Dylan...
James, I don't like Dylan. We've already gone over that. The "pond scum" is Joisey- daisyjane has a history with him and I don't always remember that. I could be classified as a not very good friend, sometimes.
sorry your cool post got off on a bad foot.
i know we been thru it before, the dylan thing.
you like the uplifting stuff.
what about this "Adele" gal my sister
likes so much? she actually bought a cd!
of course, she had trouble playing it due to her tech-phobia.
i showed her how to use her own damn cd player.

~
uh the point was: you did what you conscientiously
felt was appropriate. You voted.
I should go vote.
Somebody lended me a cruch..................
James, I like Adele a lot but haven't purchased a cd. She has a baby now, too. You haven't voted yet? Get thee to a polling place! We'll be here when you get back. And I like Dylan's words as you write them, just not his singing.
You go, girl! I am happy for you that you've already won, in a manner of speaking by taking up the yoke of service in your community.
Blessings with peace
R
Also, best wishes on getting into office!
:)
gotcha.

his words are croaked out by an old Frog Man's mouth.

latest= 'scarlet town'.

In Scarlet Town, where I was born
There's ivy leaf and silver thorn
The streets have names that you can't pronounce
Gold is down to a quarter of an ounce
The music starts and the people sway

Everybody says, "Are you going my way?"

Little Boy Blue come your blow horn
In Scarlet Town, where I was born

Scarlet Town, in the hot noon hours
There's palm-leaf shadows and scattered flowers
Beggars crouching at the gate
Help comes, but it comes too late

In Scarlet Town, the end is near
The Seven Wonders of the World are here
The evil and the good livin' side by side
All human forms seem glorified
Put your heart on a platter and see who will bite
See who will hold you and kiss you good night
There's walnut groves and maplewood
In Scarlet Town cryin' won't do no good

In Scarlet Town, you fight your father's foes
Up on the hill, a chilly wind blows
You fight 'em on high and you fight 'em down in
You fight 'em with whiskey, morphine and gin
You've got legs that can drive men mad
A lot of things we didn't do that I wish we had
In Scarlet Town, the sky is clear
You'll wish to God that you stayed right here

Set 'em Joe, play "Walkin' the Floor"
Play it for my flat-chested junkie whore
I'm staying up late, I'm making amends
While we smile, all heaven descends
If love is a sin, then beauty is a crime
All things are beautiful in their time
The black and the white, the yellow and the brown
It's all right there in front of you in Scarlet Town
Phyllis, remind me what office you are running for. I'm so sorry I forgot! I bet you DO have nerves! The best kind of nerves! The ones that let you know you are alive. Yay. I can't wait to hear your news. Go, Phyllis, go!
I voted for you, too! How do you feel about becoming a Cook County Circuit Court judge?
Phyllis -- good luck!!! How exciting!
Your commenters are leaving strange comments for you today -- a candidate who finds out if she's elected to City Council -- I sure hope our guys win the CC seats over here, those other guys bossing our town around must go! : )
And, none of my business really, except I do consider you a friend, but if someone comments on your blog someone *else* doesn't like, that's hardly a reflection on you as a friend. Daisy would have been so much kinder to just rise above and leave you a comment saying:
Good Luck Phyllis!!!!!
Good for you, Phyllis. To be totally honest I have lost all faith in politicians.

Good for you!!! Rated with Hello!!!!!
The stress is bad, and so far I am in last place. With 4 precincts, the freeloader guy is in second place. I may have to give up on my town if he wins.
Hang in there!
Just what no community needs, a freeloader.
Thinking of you....
