Here at Planetpals, we are pleased to share the work of two of our PALS, Megan and Catherine Stenberg. Megan and Catherine created a unique and meaningful summer project they called "Cash for Cans for Children's Hospital". A project where they collected returnable cans for the cash and their parents matched the funds collected.
Collecting funds for children's hospital is nothing new to these two sisters, who in the past have done some very creative things to raise money for their favorite charity. In the past Megan and Catherine have filled goody bags for families of Children's hospital for Christmas as well as run summer lemonade stands where they sold drinks, pops and their home made crafts. They now have their entire extended family involved!
The reason the girls chose Children's hospital is close to their heart. Megan, a patient at Children's Hospital, was born with a Congenital Heart Defect which was repaired at birth. Now, at age ten, she is a perfectly healthy, 5th grader who loves lacrosse, soccer and gymnastics.
This summer the Stenberg Girls collected the family returnable cans and bottles and returned them for cash to add to their already collected funds. The idea was to accomplished two things: Help the kids and families of Children's hospital and simultaneously help to keep the Earth Clean! To make it even better, their parents pledged to match the funds collected.
Kudos to Megan and Catherine, you are true Planetpals, caring for the planet and everyone and everything on it!
If you would like to get involved in their "Cash for Cans for Children's Hospital" and have your children or classroom donate to it, let us know.
